Absolutely Delicious

It has a great history to begin with since 1924. They make the perfect crispy dose, it just melts in the mouth. Got lots of signature must try dishes like Akki roti, Vada, Masala Vada not to forget the best coffee in the world "the filter coffee"

For Vegans, you need to specifically ask not to add Ghee/Butter. All other dishes are vegetarian.

Pros: Benne Masala Dose, Filter coffee, Vada

Wide variety of vegetarian options

Like yesterday's dinner, we had a hard time deciding what to order because of all the great vegetarian choices on the menu.

We went for an uttapam, a potato-filled dosa, a rice porridge-esque dish and a lentil donut in sauce. Everything was really good and refreshingly different from our recent North Indian forays.

There seems to be a lot of ghee flying around so I'm not sure how suitable this place is for vegans. The history of this small restaurant chain is detailed on posters on the wall and tells an interesting story.

Pros: Onion uttapam

Improved

I went into the shop and look at the menu. Nothing look interesting and it's pricey. The food could be nice but I am not sure.

Good dosa I guess, but lacking service

I want in for a quick lunch. Lots of food on the menu, but no indication about which dishes are vegan. Upon asking the staff, they pointed to two dishes only - I'm sure more are/could be made vegan, but honestly, I didn't feel like asking considering the lack of enthusiasm of the staff. So I went for the Plain Dosa without ghee.

It was good. But I won't go back.

Pros: Good dosa

Cons: Service, Lack of information about what food is vegan

Not a fan.

Prices are a bit higher and I don't feel they deliver.

Still, the union Utthappam was interesting (lots of union in the pancake) and with the sauces it wasn't that bad. Bisi Bele Bath started with decent papadum chips that weren't so salty, but then the dish really was, not so tasty either. Also had the Wednesday Mix Veg. Aloo Bonda, which was just fatty fried dough with some curry stuffing.

Famous for their Dosa

After hearing so much about them, they have finally arrived in Malaysia.

Authentic South Indian Vegetarian food.

I wrote to them asking if they have vegan options since their food is famous for their ghee and this is their reply:

"Yes we offer vegan dishes. Yes to the above
Kindly let the manager your preferences before you order"

:) Yippee, vegans can also enjoy their food!!

Animal Allies SG has provided this list and the Malaysia outlet has also confirmed all these can be vegan:
• Plain idli with chutney and sambar
• Vada
• All dosa batter is vegan. Request to cook without ghee.
• Upma
• Set meals : Sambar/curries and side dishes or palya's are vegan. Make sure to tell them no yogurt and milk sweet or ghee which comes in set meal as sides.
• Lemon rice, Puliogere, Tomato rice are made with oil and not ghee. Ask to give chutney as side instead of yogurt or ghee.

Parking can be found nearby at Kompleks TLK.

Pros: Tasty
