Not from here.

I got the cauliflower dinner and I never had a homestyle meal. Probably the better mac and cheese I had. Happy I got a chance to add to this to my list of experiences.

Others at my table got the falafel and Ruben- they seemed happy with their choice.

Pros: Totally vegan, many options , Professional and friendly staff

I really wanted to like this place

I was so excited to try this place while I was in town visiting family. I saw that they had tofu scramble and biscuits and gravy but when I got there I found out that they were out of both of those and many other things on their menu. I ended up just having a medley of potatoes and sausage for brunch. I tried a bite of my spouse’s doughnut and it was so cringy to swallow as it was not fully baked.

I asked for coffee and they said that if I really wanted to have coffee that they would have to brew a fresh pot for just me and they really didn’t want to do that. So… I ordered and iced tea, and they completely forgot to give it to me. Once they finally brought it out it had a frozen lemon in it which I was okay with, but thought it was rather strange.

Pros: It’s all vegan, Hmmm, I am out of ideas here

Cons: The food had no flavor, They were out of all most everything , The service was slow and forgetful

If you are passing through keep on driving

Stopped here while passing through town. The place is in a poor location and the interior is dingy and tattered. Tried to order brunch and they were out of most everything. The staff was borderline rude. I settled for two overpriced donuts. One was doughy and the other was stale. My spouse ordered differently then I and also didn’t like it. Steer clear from here.

Pros: Absolutely nothing

Cons: Rude staff , Dirty dining room , Nasty food

It is really sad as Akron needs more all vegan spots, but this one just misses the mark completely. This place is why people say that vegan food tastes bad.

Nostalgic food options!

This cute little spot had some vegan creations from my pre-vegan days that really hit the spot. My group had just eaten lunch so we just grabbed a few things to go. I grabbed some potato salad and rice pudding - both of which my mother used to make me before I went vegan. Both were amazing and I haven’t eaten either in 5 years

Lovely food!

What a great find as we were passing through Akron. Grateful to have a fully vegan place!!
All the food was lovely and the mushroom melt with hemp patty was our favourite and the carrot cake was huge!

Disappointed

Based on reviews, this restaurant was on our 'to visit' list while passing through Akron. The physical space itself was what long-time vegans would recognize as the slightly worn, eclectic decor with mismatched tables and chairs--all perfect and familiar on that account. The place felt like home--kudos. (Sidebar: When you go, make sure you give a long appreciative look at the plaster on the walls and ceiling--it is pure artistry.)
I never like to give less than glowing reviews to businesses who are trying to do the right thing and live progressive values, but I also think it hurts, not helps when we don't offer constructive comment on areas that could improve.
To that point: We ordered tofu scramble. Flavoring was a tad spicy for our tastes but the main issue was the amount of food. For $14 we expected a more generous portion--maybe even with a side. We also ordered the biscuits, sausage, and gravy. Tasty biscuits with way too much pepper in the gravy. This was another $13. The $3 coffee was bitter and not really drinkable.
We are typically very forgiving diners, but the combination of poor flavoring and high prices created a situation where we felt we needed to express our disappointment. Perhaps we just hit a 'bad day' in the kitchen. Either way, it's unfortunate because Ms. Julie's seems to have all the right intentions when it comes to plant-based food.

Pros: The Physical Space Itself, An Oasis of Plant-Based in Rust Belt City, Good Intentions and Friendly Staff

Cons: High Prices for Portions, Imbalanced Use of Spices

Good Donuts

Tried the blueberry and PB chocolate donuts. They were pretty good. They didn't have any donuts in when we arrived, but the lady went out of her way to go get them for us. A lot of items were sold out so we didn't get any other breakfast items. Will update when I'm able to try more. It just seemed like they weren't ready for customers.

Delicious lunch!

We haven’t been there in awhile but the food was better than ever! We had fried cauliflower that came with a dill dipping sauce which was amazing. The reuben hemp sandwich was so delicious and satisfying. Of course I needed an oreo donut to finish the experience.

Delicious take out only

We tried the kids sloppy mac and the sausage, biscuits and gravy. They were both fantastic! I only wish they offered seating because we traveled 40 mins to give it a try and spent a decent amount but had to eat in the car.

Pros: All vegan, Antique style

Cons: Take out only , Far away

Delicious comfort food!

Stopped here on the way back from a trip to PA on a cold and rainy day and this food just hit the spot! The staff was really friendly and helpful. Aside from fresh foods they also have baked goods and refrigerated to-go foods as well as homemade granola. We ordered the falafel sandwich, fries, and some donuts. Everything tasted great. The falafel sandwich has their homemade tahini sauce that is SO delicious. The donuts were enjoyed the next morning with my breakfast coffee and they were very tasty. Will be stopping by for lunch next time I’m in Akron. #Veganuary

Pros: All vegan, Gluten-free options available, Baked and to-go goodies available

In addition to the donuts and carrot cake, we highly recommend the vegan baklava. Friendly staff as well.

Vegan fried food haven

Lot of wonderful fried vegan food here. We tried the following fried items: oyster mushrooms (meaty), jalapeño Mac and cheese bites (my fav) and cauliflower (good, but nothing special). You can get half orders of all the fried stuff, which is great if you want to try a bunch of things. Everything is like perfectly fried - not too heavy, not too light.

They made really good bread, which I recommend trying through one of their sandwiches.

Also, the strawberry lemonade is really good! Not too sweet, flavorful, and refreshing.

This spot also has a lot of prepared items in their fridge/freezers: lots of deserts, ice cream, waffles, black bean burgers, etc. We were just passing through on a road trip so didn’t grab anything, but I was very tempted nonetheless.

Delicious Vegan Food and Kind People

There were so many options at this adorable vegan place. They weren't able to have indoor seating yet when we went but they had a little table outside and a bench. I recommend the Mac and cheese bites. SO GOOD!

Spectacular!

“I bet everything taste amazing there!”- Noah
So many options on the menu to pick. We went with the hempwich, Reuben, big mock, carrot cake, Mac n cheese balls, and onion rings. Heckin’ yeah! Everything was so delicious and scratch made. Mac n cheese balls were best I’ve ever had. The food was so wholesome tasting and filling. The space had awesome “back to the land”, mom and pop shop vibes. There are tons of take home options and condiments. The folks that worked there were so nice. Definitely the veg spot to visit in Akron. My non vegan bros really were impressed with the food. Also, gluten free galore!

AMAZING AMAZING AMAZING

I wish I would have taken a photo of the Oyster Mushroom "Not chicken" sandwich I got here. It was probably the best thing I've eaten since making the switch to not eating meat. The options here are all organic, locally sourced, and vegan. The have tons of options from donuts, to lemonade made with herbs from her herb garden outside, to an array of foods from breakfast to dinner and snacks in between. Her brownies and oatmeal raisin cookies are PHENOMENAL but I cant even begin to tell you how amazing the donuts are.

This is an AMAZING restaurant! Try it! Do the thing!

Pros: A ton of vegan options, desserts, freezer meal, Options for on the go

Cons: Definitely set aside a good amount of time, As everything is made fresh so it takes , Longer than expected

Great plant-based / GF food in Akron!

Recently went 100% plant-based and wanted some good vegan food without cooking it myself and without having to drive up to Lakewood. Got on HappyCow and saw Ms. Julie's Kitchen. I got the tofu scramble, hemp patties, some donuts (OMG) and a bonus cornbread muffin. Everything was so good! There was so much tofu scramble that I only ate half for lunch and am having the rest for dinner (OK, OK the second donut filled me up...but the portion size was also good) I normally avoid sweets but it was a super nice treat. I had a craving and the food at Ms. Julie's Kitchen hit the spot. I'll definitely be going back to try the other foods on the menu.

Pros: Great food, Gluten-free, Friendly and cozy place

Cons: Not in my town, They're popular so you might have to wait a little, The donuts are too good to pass up

Great food and friendly staff!

This place has the best cauliflower wings! The staff is super helpful and sweet especially when I called and asked for recommendations as I was brand new to being vegan and having no idea what to order for lunch. They have plenty of options and the portion sizes are huge. While I was there I got some of their frozen vegan waffles and they are to die for. I will be a returning customer. 🙂

Pros: All Vegan!, Big portions
