VEGAN PIZZAS AVAILABLE at any Mr Pizza in Portugal, excellent thin dough - Edit
Portugal is a nightmare with regards to vegan food, even now at the end of 2023. Most people, native or new residents, can't even comprehend the concept of eating compassionately. So, as a vegan, I always refused pizza in Portugal. Most pizzerias don't even offer vegetarian pizzas, let alone vegan. BUT when I stumbled upon Mr Pizza in Pombal AND in Tomar (and anywhere else where MrPizza is) I was thrilled to see that they offered vegan pizzas. The sad part is that when I tried to order it I was told by staff that the vegan pizza tasted worse than the vegetarian pizza (the cheese was not the same I was told), when in fact vegan cheese, if you know it, tastes so much better than cow's cheese. Anyway, I bought the vegan pizza and I was thrilled. The dough is also very thin and truly AUTHENTIC to Italian pizza (good quality Italian pizza), which was also very pleasing. As for the price: if you order a full pizza you may think it's too much (from 13 Euros to 17 Euros depending on the size, and I do believe vegan pizzas should be cheaper rather than more expensive). The sizes are generous, by the way, but even so I don't think that 13 Euros is a good price for a regular size vegan pizza (for Portugal, where prices are generally affordable). HOWEVER: if you order let's say 3 slices (2.50 euros per slice) you will be full. Even 2 slices are enough for one person. They will make it just for you because here the market for vegan slices is low, so if you can stretch to 3 slices they will be happy and may give you the 4th for free (it happened to me!). So, for 5 or 7.50 euros you will be filled, satisfied and happy. I personally always add a touch of olive oil on top to make it that extra delicious, but that's just me. I believe when in Portugal we should encourage those who are trying to offer vegan options, such as MrPizza. I do hope one day Portugal follows the trend most European countries have embarked on, namely walking away from animal suffering and animal death. Love to you all dear vegan angels.
