Tiffin riffic - Edit
Vegan menu here, which the single platter is exceptional value. Comes with starter, 2 curries, bread, rice and chips and a dessert for £25.
Read moreEnough food to sink a horse.
It's well cooked and flavoursome.
Says it's for a single person and this is the vegan version of the sharing platter but can easily be shared, get a second rice or something.
Building an old Clydesdale bank, very ornate with some seats that are rope swings, looks cool but not great for people with mobility issues or broad shoulders.
Food itself very flavourful and fragrant as well as attractively presented. You get to pick 2 of 4 possible curries or daals. I got the chickpeas and the keema lentils - chickpeas great, TVP / soya mince in the second one, which I didn't like as much.
Starter was vegan raita in a puff pastry bun with pomegranate seeds in it. Bombay potatoes style fries and nice bread (roti). Dessert was a very creamy coconut ice cream.
Service is fast and attentive.
Served in tiffins - little saucepans that stack and clip in a tower that have the same handles as camping dishes.
Very nice all round, best meal I've had that work paid for ✌️
Pros: Taste is great

The place to be at Edinburg - Edit
Mowgli was honestly one of the best restaurants I’ve ever tried. The value for money is amazing, the menu is incredibly varied, and there are plenty of vegan and gluten-free options, which is a huge plus. The staff were absolutely lovely — so friendly, helpful and attentive throughout the whole meal. Everything was delicious and the atmosphere was great. If you’re visiting Edinburgh, this place is an absolute must!✨

Good food! - Edit
Went with a friend and got the sharing menu. Was immediately offered a vegan menu on arrival. Plenty of options and the sharing menu was loads of delicious food!

Delicious food & lovely setting - Edit
I had the vegan tiffin for one which had a delicious tarka Dahl, incredible side of a crunchy bombay mix-style dish, Bombay potato (slightly spiced) rice and chapatis. We were sat in a booth with swing seats and the atmosphere was lovely. Greenery everywhere and fairy light all around. The service was great.

Lack of flavour and not worth the money - Edit
I originally visited the Glasgow restaurant and was not impressed. Thought I would give the Edinburgh one a shot to see if this was better. Although they have a decent sized Vegan Menu with lots of options, the food was not good. I have now tried at least 8 different things on the menu all of which lacked flavour. The main thing I noticed was everything was covered in coriander which I am not a fan of and the mix of spices was underwhelming. For the price of the meals the portions are tiny. For example one of the dishes is advertised as a main meal and was a super tiny pot of vegan mince and peas which cost £11! Really disappointed and do not recommend!

Good vegan options, amazing space - Edit
Separate vegan menu, drinks are marked as vegan, and if you have any allergies they have a helpful sheet and knowledgeable staff.
Read moreSet in an old bank, the building is beautiful as are the lights. Some swing seats and some normal seating. It is great as a romantic spot.
I had the tiffin, be warned it is a lot of food and I normally eat quite a bit.
Pros: Decor & location, Super friendly & helpful staff, Separate vegan menu
Cons: Expensive

Good food, separate vegan menu - Edit
Really enjoyed here - have passed many times, but it’s not obviously an Indian restaurant from the outside!
Read moreThe vegan menu had plenty of options, including one that included 3 ‘random’ vegan curries and rice. I went for this and it was great, and decent value for central Edinburgh. Inside is really nicely done up too. The meal (without a drink) was about £20 each including tip and I was full enough from lunch not to need dinner 🙂

Caters well to vegans - Edit
I have visited several Mowgli restraunts over the years and they have always been consistently great. They offer a separate vegan menu, and they also state when alcoholic drinks are vegan on the drinks menu.
Read moreI have tried 3 different dishes, and all have been delicious so far. If I were to recommend two, it would have to be the dahl and the treacle tamarind fries.
The venue also looks beautiful. However, the hard wood seating can be quite uncomfortable.

Terrible Food - Edit
There were a decent amount of vegan options, unfortunately they were terrible. We ordered several small plates. One was never delivered and the others were of a quality I could have made with standard ingredients from the supermarket. The waiters were trying their best but the place was loud and hard to make yourself heard. The space itself does look nice though.

It’s ok - Edit
Indian food is my favourite and I was so excited to go here.
Read moreHowever something just doesn’t work. We ordered 4 curries and they all had one flavour. One tasted overwhelmingly of mustard, one of pineapple, one of ginger and one of tamarind. There was no subtle complexity, just one dominant flavour.
The service was good, the place is beautiful, lots of choice. I’d try it one more time to give it the benefit of the doubt, with different dishes.

Great vegan menu! Mirrors the main menu - definitely don’t feel you’re missing out. I went with my meat eating daughter and she loved it.
