Good food, but unclear vegan options and a gloomy vibe - Edit
I went here with my boyfriend (non-vegan). The food was good and pretty inexpensive, but the overall experience was a bit disappointing.
The atmosphere felt quite gloomy (worn-out tablecloths, no music, not very welcoming), and the staff weren’t particularly friendly.
Vegan options aren’t clearly marked, which is a downside. The server did offer to make the veg biryani vegan, which I appreciated, but I’m not sure how clear or reliable that actually was.
We also got an extra sauce without any explanation. Since my boyfriend already had a sauce with his dish, we assumed it was for me, but it smelled like butter, so that was a bit off-putting.
Overall, it’s okay for a meal, but as a vegan I didn’t feel very confident or impressed.
Vegan dishes aren't clearly labelled on the menu, so make sure to ask the staff what can be made vegan. We had the vegetable momo, tandoori roti, onion bhaji, vegetable samosa and chana masala with jeera rice. All were good. We forgot to ask about the spiciness level when ordering. The samosas and momos were quite spicy, but the chana masala was not, so beware if you're sensitive do spicy food.
Loved the vegetable momos. They also offered to make the Mixed Vegetables curry vegan. For the tandoori roti they used olive oil instead of butter too! Will visit again!
A couple of nice vegan options: samosas, pakora, onion bhaji, lentil bread as starters.
Chana masala and different curries as mains.
Decent Indian cuisine, friendly staff
