Good Indian With Vegan Options - Edit
Tasty food, good service and a number of vegan options to choose from. Needed a reservation the night we went but this was during Fringe festival.

Indian tapas - Edit
This was our second visit to Mother India Coffee and we have been once again very impressed. We are both vegan and the menu has vegan options very clearly marked and an addition our server was extremely helpful and knowledgeable about other dishes that could be easily made vegan. The food is excellent, really tasty and I love the Tapas theme which allows us to try quite a few dishes between us. The food is not greasy at all and having the option of vegan naan breads is especially appreciated. We also liked that some of the dishes were pretty unique compared to other establishments and it is really nice that they have a selection of specials which today included a red onion bhaji starter which was lovely and suitable for vegans. We went at opening time on a Sunday lunchtime when it was very quiet initially but soon after it started filling up so probably worth booking in advance if you can.

AMAZING - Edit
Really fun tapas-style Indian restaurant! You can order a lot of different dishes when you come with a group, decently priced, and DELICIOUS! My favorites were the chickpea dish and the lentil dish (I can’t remember what they were called on the menu). Very good flavor, would give 5 stars if allowed. They can make the naans vegan as well and we got the garlic naan which was delicious!

Sharing is caring - Edit
This is one of the better indian restaurants I've been to in this city. We were a large group, mainly veg adjacent people, and ordered many different dishes. The spice level was alright, and the food was nice. I would recommend ordering different dishes to share as the dishes were relatively small on their own.

Fine if you're in the area - Edit
Our group found this to be a reliable central option without a booking on a Sunday evening when fewer vegan-friendly places seem to be open. There was a good range of flavours across the dishes. The menu could definitely increase its vegan ambitions and vegan labelling was absent from the side dishes.

Cons: Basement seating a bit cramped and gloomy

Delicious and good price! - Edit
Best Indian I’ve had outside India. Portions are small (tapas style) but cheap. We ordered 3 curries rice, popadoms and bread between the two of us, and we were stuffed! I do think you need to double check about the bread to be sure you get vegan cause I think we accidentally ordered stuff with ghee on it. Otherwise it was flawless.

Beautiful food, excellent service - Edit
Having been to Mother India’s Café in Glasgow, I decided to try out the one in Edinburgh. There were plenty of vegan options. My partner and I opted to share four “tapas” style dishes and each of them were delicious. My favourite was the potato and okra dish. Will definitely be back to try the other vegan dishes on the menu!

Decent - Edit
It’s a few years since I was here but having seen it on HC with no reviews, I thought I would add.
Read morePart of ten small Glasgow chain I used to frequent in my days in the Wild West. Generally like most Indian a decent selection of veggie dishes, done in another India tapas style. Share 3-5 dishes between two depending on how hungry you are.
Good dhal but the aubergine potato was my fav. Vegan options now marked clearly but ask for more jnfo on the breads.
Pros: Tasty
Cons: Edinburgh prices
