We were looking for a mixed menu restaurant and ended up here. The restaurant has a great ambiance, but only a few vegan options. What upset me is that they didn't give full information on the menu. I ordered the 'stoverij' and it came without mayonaise. Oops, forgot to tell me that they didn't have that today. But this is not the worst.
Read moreEarly on I had decided to take a dessert and not an appetizer, because finally this restaurant has a vegan dessert listed on the menu! I was so excited to try their Lebanese date-pistachio pie! Yet, only when I ended up ordering it, they told me that they didn't have that today, because 2 employees were sick. Come on.... What kind of restaurant doesnt give full information on the menu 🥴 so yeh. Im happy that I finally got to try a true Belgian stoverij because I only know it from my cookbooks, but I dont recommend this restaurant.

This restaurant has some tasty vegan options on the menu such as a vegan tagine and vegan stew. When we were there, they have also a vegan dish on the suggestion menu. We ate in the atmospheric courtyard. The entire restaurant is very cozy. We were there early and there were tables available, but it is best to reserve in advance. Open from 3 pm for drinks and tapas, you can dine from 6 pm.

Offer great variety of cuisines and portray very good options for Belgian cuisine. My favourite is the vegan stew "stoofvlees". Often come where when friends from abroad come over. Cocktails are great too!

It’s a travel themed restaurant with a cool interior to match. They have quite a few vegan options and because of the theme these are from different cuisines ie Flemish stew, Moroccan tagine, tacos, Lebanese salad. They even have a vegan cheesecake for dessert. I got the vegan stew and it was delicious, as was the dragon in the clouds cocktail. If I came back to Ghent I’d definitely visit again.

Great Jackfruit Taco's & Cozy Interior - Edit
It was a very cute spot with a cozy interior and a separate terrace on the other side. They also had a few rooms that were tailored to traditional middle-eastern cultures. A few very nice vegan options, I enjoyed the Jackfruit Taco's a lot and I'm often quite critical of how Jackfruit is prepared!

Best place in Ghent to go with omni's! They have 2 vegan dishes: the seitan stew (sooooo good!!!) and the "pulled porc" taco's (also very good), there are also some other vegetarian dishes veganizable and everything is very well labeled on the menu.

They usually have several vegan options and they taste great. Good if there are also meat eaters in your company, but there are definitely a lot of places in Ghent that offer better vegan food.

Another place that’s hard to rate. Mosquito Coast is a huge travel-themed place with a large choice of international dishes but very little vegan choices. I had the vegan seitan stew, which I didn’t like. I wanted to try it to eat something "typical Belgian"… but the sauce with dark beer was rather disgusting, in my opinion. Anyway, in general this is a nice place, they can also veganise other dishes. Staff is very friendly and the atmosphere was good. Also have a good selection of Belgian beers. This is a restaurant and a bar in one – so you could also go there just for some cocktails/drinks and small snacks. The food is rather expensive.

Friendly staff immediately recognized us as being vegan (I was wearing a hoodie with the vegan logo on it), and we received a summery of all vegan dishes and dishes that could be made vegan. I had my mind set on the "stoverij" for many months.

Read moreTheir menu might not look super vegan-friendly at first sight, but if you ask the amazing staff, they will be able to tell you which dishes are vegan and which vegetarian dishes can be veganised. So don't hesitate to ask!
I adore their portobello mushroom burger with guacamole ("MacMariachi"), but they also often serve vegan suggestions (as one of their staff members is a vegan).
This travel-themed café and restaurant has a great, relaxed vibe and is often very busy (so if you have the opportunity, try to book a table in advance to be sure). They also have a courtyard and a terrace in the front. Highly recommended!
