They have a specific vegan menu! The staff understands english and are very nice! I tried the yuba and mushroom udon and it was delicious. They also gave us an appetizer.

Told them i was vegan, got a vegan menu and a vegan appetizer. They understood what vegan was, Its always comforting to not have to specify what you can and cannot eat. The food was absolutely amazing as well. Its great because my non vegan friend wasnt restricted by my diet, and i wasnt either! It is also is such a cozy place!

Compact and hip eatery located right in front of the train station. I recommend making a reservation online as it can get busy and seating is limited.
Read moreThey provided a vegan menu upon request, which included a vegan set (with fried tofu, rice, salad, pickles, soup) and a yuba mushroom udon. The yuba mushroom udon was decently tasty, hearty, and came in a generous portion. Their drinks are a bit pricey, especially for wine and sake... Their moscow mule was just OK.
There's a 500 yen cover charge which surprised me, but they provided a delicious fried tofu appetizer at no extra charge. Expect to spend over 3000 yen for a main dish and drink, which was the most expensive meal of my trip. The food was good but I don't think it justified the cost...

We arrived at 250pm at the restaurant on 22 December 2023 when the closing hour was 3 pm. However the last order timing was 2:15 pm and the restaurant refused us entry, though we had kids in tow. Make sure you are punctual if you want a seat. Restaurant is up a steep slope so quite a walk. We came the next day again and this time managed to get a table. What followed was a hearty piping hot bowl of vegetarian udon with no alliums - the sauce was good and the noodles of the right texture. It was smashing - slurping down the noodles amidst the plunging temperatures outside. My son enjoyed the ice cream as well. Highly recommended if you are a hungry vegetarian in Hakone .

Uh, although the ending of your review is nice! but it is 100% normal to refuse service 10 mins before closing regardless of where you are especially in japan. Your kids are your problem.

We chanced coming without calling in advance, staff asked if we could eat meat/fish broth then asked chefs if they could accommodate when we said no. They then seated us and brought us a vegetarian menu which had a phenomenal udon with several kinds of mushrooms and tofu skin that melted in the mouth. Food took forever to arrive (probably because they were making the broth fresh for us). We’ll worth the wait and the wasabi that came with the bowl was fresh. Highly recommend!!!

They now have a separate page stating the vegetarian/vegan options! Seems to be all vegan, I showed a card saying what I don't eat and staff confirmed it was okay.

We went for late lunch and they had finished the udon due the day so I ordered some yuba sashimi, salad and rice. The yuba was really fresh and good. The staff was really nice and understanding.

They don’t have many vegan things in menu but they made us soup without fish and tell us that we need to wait little longer for it. Otherwise it was delicious but small portions.
