A Vegan Delight

We ate through most of the menu here. It has a cool
vibe, owners are so nice and friendly . There are dogs and cats roaming around so it’s the best of both worlds.
Very vegan friendly with some vegetarian options. Definitely a must visit if you’re a vegan. Their menu is health and nutritious conscious and the vibe is great. Vegan pizza is great 😁

Pros: Mostly vegan option , Has rescued dogs and cats to greet you, Friendly homely feeling

The best place in Yangshuo, and possibly in the whole area.

Vegetarian fusion restaurant that easily goes fully vegan if you take out the egg or yogurt. Excellent food and wonderful vibes, a real hidden gem that I kept going back to every day while in Yangshuo. Can't recommend enough.

Pros: Great food, Comfortable mezze seating with heaters. ., Friendly staff who speak English

Cons: Not vegan, A little salty.

Homemade delights

We were glad to have researched and subsequently found this wonderful place.

This is very much haven for vegetarians and vegans.

The whole enterprise is centred around healthy living, containing as it does a wellness centre, yoga studio and essential oils practice.

The Kombucha is excellent and noticeably homemade.
The western style menu is abundant and quite contemporary.

Stand out dishes include the cashew cheese cucumber wrap rolls and the buckwheat burger.

The waitress who looked after us was both very friendly and helpful.

Pros: Contemporary, Clean

Best Vegan option in Yangshuo

I come climbing in YS often and my biggest concern is always finding good, healthy WFPB vegan options with no oil (or very little oil). Eating healthy in China is difficult. The only reason I come back to rock climb here is because of Mood Food and knowing I have somewhere to eat!

The food is descent. Some items still have more oil than I like, but by far this is the best vegan food in Yangshuo (and quite good). The atmosphere is relaxed. Some normal tables and two Japanese-style tables (sit cross-legged on cushions on the floor with very low table). They have really good heaters if you’re here when it’s cold, nice place to sit and warm-up while enjoying a good meal! They also have yoga classes, massage and a sauna upstairs. Centrally located on a quiet street. Good coffee shop next door, and Climbers Inn around the corner.

The owner, Daniel, is French-Canadian and his lovely wife are both multi-lingual (they speak perfect English, French, Mandarin and probably some other languages too). The Kombucha is the best I’ve had anywhere; they make it in-house. The smoothies and juices are great too! I recommend Mood Food to all my friends who come climbing here and I eat here most nights when I’m in YS climbing (which is often, I live in HK so not too far away).

This is a 100% Vegetarian restaurant (no meat served) so just be sure your food is vegan (no dairy, eggs or honey). All vegan options are clearly marked on the Menu with a “V”, and gluten-free options are marked with “GF”.

They also have a big menu book with photos of every dish! This is a great idea because you can see the food before you order it!

Pros: Lots of Vegan options (Desserts are great), Nice atmosphere, English menu and English speaking owners

Cons: One server doesn’t speak any English

Cool For Cats.

We were in Yangshuo for 4 days and this was the first place we tried and sunsequently revisited. It's a cosy space and very easy to find, the menu states clearly what dishes are vegan, there's a vast selection mixing Western and Asian dishes. Day one I was greeted by a cat who then sat in my lap all through lunch, we had a portion of fries, dumplings, I had the burger while my girlfriend had the Guilin cold noodles. Service wasn't the fastest but it's a small place and we were in no hurry, the food was great, the buckwheat burger was dense and rich. Over the next few days we tried the vegan cheesy pasta, pizza, spicy potatoes, Gado Gado, lentil Dahl and the drinks are delicious. My cheesy pasta was stand out for me, but nothing disappointed, the flavours in the Gado Gado were incredible, the spicy potatoes were shredded with bits of peppers, more tasty than spicy. The vegan carrot cake was again dense and rich, the vanilla mudslide was a tasty dessert too. The chive bread was also a nice little side or appetiser. This place also has a yoga studio & spaces for massage. The chef also gave us some vegan cocoa bites for free after our meals. Don't miss this great place.

Pros: Lots of vegan options., Tasty, Nice interior and atmosphere

Amazing surprise

Finding a place like this in Yangshuo is a great win for all veggie heads. The vibe is extremely chilled, personnel is friendly, menu is English (with vegan and gluten free options clearly labeled), and the food was exquisite. We tried their buckwheat burger, dhal, spring rolls, rolls with cashew cheese and carrot cake. Everything on point. On top of that, the seating arrangements allow you just to lie down for a while and chill. Must visit when you are in the area.

Pros: tons of vegan options, quality of the food, atmosphere of the place

Yummy food, friendly cats, cozy vibe (and sauna!)

I had the buckwheat burger and my boyfriend had the gado-gado with peanut sauce and both were delicious and filling! Also took a slice of vegan chocolate cheesecake to go which was so rich and tasty. We were lucky enough to have an adorable white cat come and sit on our laps while we ate. Also, because we each spent ¥75, we got to use the tourmaline sauna for free which was so relaxing and nice on a damp and rainy day. The service was also very friendly. Definitely a must-visit in Yangshuo!

Pros: Delicious food, Adorable kitties , Sauna!!

So cozy

I have been here a few times. I am in Yangshou for long term and to me this place feel like home. The food is good (though I have had some misses here). They offer kombucha flights and their smoothies are giant. Some things aren't marked vegan on the menu but can be made vegan if you ask to substitute for coconut yogurt or something for example. They also have massage, tourmaline sauna, and essential oils for sale. I have had no problems with the language barrier when ordering here either.

Pros: good atmosphere, vegan items marked,

Cons: tad expensive for Chinese standards

Good food but bad service

We had a bit of an absurd experience here with the staff. Our server spat an amazing quantity of saliva on the floor of the restaurant then walked out into the rain to clean the sidewalk.

The ordering process was ten times more complicated than it needed to be. The restaurant has two separate menus: a green one for starters and main dishes and a blue one for drinks and desserts. Each of these has both a Chinese and English version. All the dishes have a code so that the server who doesn't speak English can find the dish right away on the Chinese menu. In itself, this is a great system. However, when we ordered our server started juggling with menus. She didn't seem to understand that both menus were essentially the same, only in a different language. When we ordered drinks (from the English blue menu) she kept trying to point at random stuff on the Chinese green menu. It took an immense effort to convey that the blue and green menus were different.
There's no plain water on the menu, you're supposed to order water with essential oils in it. So we asked for a liter of that. Instead we received one glass of a warm, greasy ginger tea.

However, the food was nice and we actually returned the next day with a friend who speaks Mandarin. We were sorely mistaken in assuming this would make ordering easier however, because what followed was even more confusion and menu-juggling.

I would recommend the Chinese dishes over the Western ones on the menu. We enjoyed the jiaozi and the noodle soup. The portions for these dishes were very generous.

Pros: good, real Chinese food, vegan dishes clearly marked

Cons: poor service

Unique atmosphere but food was hit and miss

We really enjoyed walking into their unique environment, and we found the staff to be very welcoming and friendly. Our waiter worked with us on choosing some vegan dishes, and we got a good mix of items (kale chips, burger, pesto pasta, dumplings, and rice noodles). We thought the pasta and dumplings were great, but everything else we felt was at best - just OK. The kale chips were a bit soft and flimsy (though the flavour was good), the burger tasted good but fell apart very easily, and the rice noodle dish was quite oily (and the noodles themselves were not great compared to what you can get elsewhere in Yangshuo). Overall, it was nice having a unique experience, but I don't think I'd do back.

Pros: unique atmosphere, vegan pesto pasta, friendly and welcoming staff

Cons: moldy menus, hit and miss food

Chinese and Western food

We enjoyed our lunch - we had been eating only Chinese food, so we tried the burger and a salad for a change. But could not resist a Chinese soup, which was also good. Other diners were eating Chinese noodle dishes. The staff were super-friendly; one is an expat originally from Canada. It's an informal place, and we started talking to another diner, who showed us the way to the bus station. I would definitely go back there, if I return to Yanshuo.

Best Vegetarian Restaurant in China

Excellent Chinese, Asian and Western selection of food, drinks and desserts. We wanted to order everything on the menu. They also have Yoga and meditation! I ordered a local black tea, complete with traditional tea set, and mixed seasonal veggies with eggs, brown rice, and miso soup. My husband ordered a coconut yogurt vanilla lassi and the egg and noodle pie. We came back the next day for lunch and would have liked to more of their homemade fruit wines.

Pros: Amazing food selection, Great service (with English!), Lovely decorations

good food, bad service

We are here twice in our stay in Yangshuo and were served by the same girl both times. She appeared to have no interest in actually serving us and I had to get up to approach her most times. On the last occasion we ordered a burger and a salad. We received the salad half an hour after the burger. We avoided eating here again. Also the waiter had no idea what vegan meant despite telling us "the whole menu is vegan, this is a vegan restaurant" most of the food contained egg or honey but it is fairly easy to spot on the menu. Shame because the food we had was genuinely nice: the Indian daal, Thai soup, garlic bread, burger and beat Apple salad. Prices were pretty high considering portion sizes.

Veggie Paradise

If you a little fed up of local greasy food and hustle and bustle of West Street, this is the place to go!

Mood Food Energy Café offers a big selection of healthy Vegetarian Dishes as well as number of Vegan options.

We tried dumplings, veggie burger, home made hummus, Vegan pasta, mudslide desert and many others. All dishes were very well presented and had a lot of flavor.

Being Vegans and enjoying healthy organic life style, this place was just what we needed in Yangshuo.

You can also try homemade wines, few types of Kombucha, fresh Wheatgrass shot or simply high quality green tea.

We had most of our breakfasts and lunches there with litters of really tasty Kombucha with Wheatgrass shots.

Pros: Fresh, Healthy, Vegetarian/Vegan
