Great atmosphere and food! - Edit
Monster Vegan is one of my favorite vegan spots in Philly!
Read moreThe monster- theme vibe is fun and Halloween sexy year round (great lighting).
Everything I've eaten there has been delicious. The cocktails are served in monster glasses.
It's a tiny bit pricey, but you're paying for the vibe. It's in a safe location; easy to walk or get an Uber.
Highly recommend!
Pros: Great lighting and atmosphere, Yummy vegan food, Friendly staff
Cons: A tad pricey

Best Cheesesteak - Edit
I had the best cheesesteak I have had here at Monster Vegan. The vibe is cool and modern which is rare to find in the vegan restaurant world. The place was packed.

Coolest atmosphere, awesome takes on classic dishes - Edit
Weird Halloween vibe (in the best way) with projections of B horror movies all over the walls which is super fun! Loved the cheesesteak I got here and their calamari stunned me with how flavorful and reminiscent it was of a traditional version.

Good food, great mocktails - Edit
Visited with my partner and we really enjoyed both the food and the mocktails, which were very fruity and delicious (like us). I only took one star off because the portions aren't quite as big as I expected them to be. But we did really enjoy the panzotti, bruschetta, and general tso's tacos! Service was a bit slow but I think they were low on staff that night, and everyone was very kind and helpful regardless.

Good! - Edit
6/30/23, Dinner. Vibes were pretty weird, with old school music and weird old-timey horror movie clips looping on a tv screen. Food was pretty good and quite filling. Most of the menu has fake meats (soy based chicken impossible meats, oyster mushroom calamari), which I'm not a big fan of, but overall the food was quite good! My non-vegan friend and I got truffle parmesan fries to share, which were delicious. The fries came with ketchup and some kind of horseradish dip, and we didn't really like the dip as much. I think my friend ordered the truffle alfredo with the cutlets side, which she really liked but couldn't finish, because it was so filling. She also ordered the non-alcoholic strawberry drink "Burial Ground," which she enjoyed. I ordered the VAMPIRO tacos, which came with fried "chicken" cutlets. I took some home as well because I got full quickly! I also ordered a very delicious and refreshing alcoholic coconutty slushie called "ORCA: Terror beneath the surface." 😋 Enjoyable meal and vibes! Good, attentive service.

Wings - Edit
This place has such a fun vibe! Boyfriend and I both really liked the vegan wings and would definitely order them again. The spaghetti was unimpressive so I would advise against that and pick something else. The Cthulhu burger was okay but a LOT of food (plus a generous serving of fries) so be prepared for a big meal and maybe skip the appetizers if you order it. Personally, I would just order wings instead of an entree next time because those were so good!

Love me a good theme restaurant - Edit
I really enjoyed this restaurant experience. Everything was so well executed and the theme was present in everything from the decorations, to the menu, to the deadpan staff (but still nice staff). I felt like the portions were pretty monster as well, they were big and I had breakfast for the day after. It is these kind of vegan places that get me really excited. However, it is not cheap, but I would say a visit is worth the money.

prob wouldn't go back - Edit
i love the concept but sadly i wouldn't say this is one of my fav vegan spots in philly. i've been twice and both times have been underwhelming. i got the penne vodka and linguine and clams and found the dishes to be very salty, kinda small portions, and nothing standout really. the pasta dishes are $20 each which feels a bit steep for what you're really getting. i also don't love that the only added protein options you can do is impossible meat type stuff, nothing more organic or raw which is typically what i lean towards more. but it is a cute place and i'm glad i tried it!

The "Cthulhu Burguer" was delicious! I don't even like mushrooms, I fell in love with the crispy ones that came in the hamburger. I also had Apple pie for with vanilla icecream, which was very tasty. I recommend!

Cons: For me, the price...

General Tso's Wings With Twilight Zone in the Background - Edit
I was excited to try this restaurant because of the monster theme, but when I looked at the menu I was nervous about all the Impossible products. I ended up being extremely pleased with everything I ordered.

This is the second time we have enjoyed Monster Vegan around going to a show at the Miller Theatre or Academy of Music. Today we tried two mocktails and had the Parmesan Truffle fries with the General Tso’s Hoagie. Then the beignet sundae… plenty for two people!!

Excellent Food & Vibes - Edit
Monster Vegan has a great lounge type atmosphere that doesn’t really fit the aesthetic of horror film, but it’s a really comfortable setting for brunch with friends. The food is the real star of the show, with everything I tried being a stellar example of simple vegan eats with a flavor punch.
Read moreThe Argento in particular was slamming, with The Bava not far behind. Two very diff sandwiches but super tasty and includes many home made sauces and prep that makes it worth buying here instead of creating at home. The fries and General Tso’s wings were also a hit we didn’t leave behind. All around great eats, vibes, and friendly service. I’d totally eat here again.
