Great find if you like spicy pan-Asian food!

Stumbled upon this omni restaurant in Williamsburg that includes a separate vegan menu! Had a reservation but may not have needed it since we went on a holiday weekend. Cute ambience but a bit chilly temperature as winter weather has begun to sit in (the second floor seating was strangely much colder than the first floor where my party was seated). Very kind and efficient waitstaff!

Half my party eats vegan and the other half are Omni, so this restaurant suited everyone’s needs! (The omni eaters in my party ordered the shrimp rolls and yuzu noodles are their main dishes and both enjoyed them, but I will refrain from commenting further on them).

The vegan half of my party ordered:
- Roti (ordered 2 dishes as an appetizer because it was just that good!)
- Crispy Cauliflower Steam Buns (comes with two, small but really good. But super spicy sauce!!)
- Addictive Spicy Cabbage (medium-high spice level but very tasty!)
- Vegan Bibimbap (truthfully, our least favorite dish, lacked flavor compared to other bibimbaps I’ve had)
- Shiitake Fried Rice (mild fragrance and very pleasant taste)
- Spicy Margaritas (some of my party enjoyed their margaritas)

Fairly small portions for the price but overall very high quality food. The first three appetizers were stellar and the entrees were good but not outstanding. Would totally go back just for a spread of apps!

Delicious and separate vegan menu

I've been to Monarch several times ever since they've opened a few years ago but always for dinner and finally got to try the brunch. All the options are delicious at dinner, I've had most everything on the vegan menu and always with omnivores who loved their food.

For brunch I tried the Liquid Pearl cocktail (lavender orgeat, lime juice, El Dorado rum, coconut milk, shaved nutmeg, cinnamon stick) which looks very pretty but tbh wasn't the most flavorful drink, it comes with the cinnamon stick lit & smoking which I do not find pleasant and seems very trendy, smoking cocktails and I'm not a fan!

I love that there is an entirely separate vegan menu they put down with the 'regular' menu they don't even ask if anyone wants it, it's just routine service. I ordered the Hangry Panda (tofu scramble, potatoes with cilantro cumin sauce, vegan mushroom Thai Sausage, fennel raisin toast) and ate every single bite it was really good, full of interesting and delicious flavors. My only complaint would be the toast is served dry, it would be outstanding if there was plant butter but I still very much enjoyed it.

The restaurant decor is beautiful, music and vibes are cool, service is always great. It was a nice day so we sat out on the 2nd story balcony, eventually we were getting a bit too much sun but very much love balcony dining, so I'd do it all again!!

It's one of my favorite neighborhood places, definitely highly recommended for dining out with non-vegans.

Best Tofu Scramble

In a (vegan) world where most restaurants want to rely on Just Egg, it’s great to be able to find some good old tofu scramble.

Their brunch is amazing and while they’re not 100% vegan, there are plenty of options so I can dine out with my non vegan friends.

Pros: Amazing food , Great service , Relaxing atmosphere

Top choice!

One of my favorite spots in NY. Love the ambiance, service, and all the food. They have a full vegan menu with lots of delicious options. I go with a non vegan and we order everything vegan and share a bunch of delicious dishes.

fav restaurant in Brooklyn for vegan / non vegan friend group.

i love this place with my whole heart. Even though it’s not fully vegan, I have a ton of friends who respect my vegan ness obviously but they don’t always want to eat vegan. This place makes it easy to have options and not really forcing anyone to eat a certain way. I’ve took non vegans here and they have eaten fully vegan “accidentally” bc that’s how good it is.

I wouldn’t say it’s expensive but the quality of food is spectacular so I think it’s worth it. The dishes are between $8-$20 (vegan are cheaper😉) and I always get at least 3 plates, typically share with my groip bc the plates are small ish and meant to share since everything is delicious, come hungry. This place is nice for a date night or girls night and the vibe of the restaurant is really cute. You can really tell the chef caters to both the vegan diet and non vegan and makes sure the flavors while keeping the dish clean.

The cauliflower, eggplant, cold noodles, Brussel sprouts, roti and watermelon salad (summer only) are amazing.

Pros: vegan menu with various choices, Amazing drinks, Cute restaurant vibe

Delicious vegan options

Monarch just a new vegan menu. They realized the future is began and they are adapting. The food is delicious. Everything is reasonable priced so you can try several things. The Brussels sprouts are incredible. They do an Asian twist on guacamole using yuzu juice in place of lime and serve it with wonton chips. The maitake buns are delightful. The sesame noodles have a hint of heat to just help brighten the dish. I can’t wait to go back and order more of the vegan offerings.

Everything is all vegetable. No tofu, seitan, tempeh, or vegan meats. Food is cooked to order so everything is fresh. They are working on a vegan dessert.

Pros: Lots of options , Great value, Delicious food

Cons: No vegan dessert yet.
