Unique Food Cart and Excellent Vegan Options

Mole Mole may not have a full sized kitchen or brick and mortar, but do not underestimate their food. According to a Portland Monthly piece by Katherine Hamilton, the cart is family-owned and located in the trendy Alberta Arts District.

What makes Mole Mole stand out is that they serve their food on hand-painted plates—a rare luxury in the food cart industry.

I ordered the vegan mole enchiladas, which were full of flavor and delicious. Portions are large and well presented.

What Mole Mole lacks in menu design and brand presence is made up for in their vegan offerings. I would recommend establishing an online presence and redesigning the menu to attract more passerby and vegans.

Happy Cow does not allow 5-star reviews for restaurants that are not fully vegan, but I would rate the Mole Mole vegan menu at 4.8/5 stars. If you are in the Portland area, Mole Mole is a must-try.

Pros: Excellent vegan options, Plated food with large portions, Good value

Cons: Not fully vegan, Brand and menu design could be improved

Excellent spot

They have many vegan options for tacos, enchiladas, and burritos: vegan meats such as soy curls, tofu, soyrizo, and soy tinga. Their salsas are delicious and the prices are very reasonable.

Authentic Mexican food for sure.

You can bring the food to the Baerlic brewery next door since Mole Mole is a food truck.

Pros: Lots of vegan options, Very taste food, Affordable

Best Vegan Mexican Food in Portland

There are lots of Mexican restaurants in Portland with vegan options, but very few of them serve really good Mexican food. Mole Mole is the exception. This is by far the best vegan Mexican food I've had in Portland. The flavors are spot on and the portions are very generous. The soy curl mole taco had so much filling that there was no way to pick it up and eat it without making a huge mess. I first had to eat half of the filling with a fork, THEN I was able to pick it up and eat it like a taco. The mole had incredible depth of flavor.

The soy tinga and soyrizo tacos were also excellent. Red and green enchiladas were delicious and came with a generous portion of rice and beans as well as guacamole.

This is one of those times when I wish Happy Cow would allow users to award five stars to restaurants that are not completely vegan. If any place deserves it, this is the place. From now on when I'm craving Mexican food, I'll head straight to Mole Mole. Nothing else in Portland even comes close.

Pros: Delicious food, Large Portions, Reasonable prices
