What a nice place in town

Moe Pyae San is just in front of my hotel and I had a few meal at there. Eggplant salad was my favourite. All dishes that I ordered were really tasty, huge portion and super cheap. I highly recommend you to go and give it a try.

Cheap vegetarian place

The food was tasty and cheap. We ordered stir fried watercress and mushrooms, stir fried mixed vegetables, veg noodle soup and coconut rice. The veg noodle soup came with egg, this was unexpected, since it didn't say so on the menu. So, worth checking dishes don't contain egg when you're ordering. Not a problem for us because my husband eats everything so he ate the noodle soup! Everything else that we ordered was vegan, though. Coconut rice was particularly nice and overall the food all tasted fresh and healthy. Service was slow but we've become accustomed to that, generally, in Myanmar. I think it's just because everything is freshly prepared.

Very cheap, apparently serves meat for locals or upon request

Moe Pyae San might not look very beautiful from outside (or even inside), but the food is pretty fine and the prices are really low, at least half the prices you’ll find in other vegetarian restaurants in the area. I ate there three times while in Bagan/Nyaung-U and never paid more than 3000 for a meal of two/three dishes. Important to say that I didn’t experience any stomach problem after eating there - this isn’t something you have to worry about in Myanmar. Last but not least, apparently they do serve chicken for locals or upon request, but the menu is vegetarian, mostly vegan.

Pros: Cheap, Good location

Cons: Not exactly vegetarian

Delicious food, excellent value

The food here is delicious and so incredibly cheap! I really recommend the hot and sour veg (if you can handle heat!) or the tofu curry. My friend had the steamed rice and veggies option and said it was very flavourful.
The setting is a little hard to find and it’s fairly hot and a little dusty, but couldn’t fault the food.

Ok, a little oily. Serves meat.

I had two dishes, they are very small but only cost 1000 kyat (less than a Dollar each). Both were ok but a little too oily for me.

Meat is not on the menu, but they do offer meat dishes to locals.

Pros: vegan options

Cons: Serves meat (not on menu, upon request)

January 2020 update: Not vegetarian

We ate here twice when in Bagan, because it was close to our hotel. The first time was good, super cheap, 1k for almost all dishes. We had rice and a few salads to share. But when we went inside to pay there was someone eating chicken, and there was chicken behind the counter, even though the sign outside says “vegetarian restaurant” and we checked that everything was “thatalo”. Maybe this is a separate business or just for staff, either way I hope everything it prepared and handled separately. The menu is all vegetarian.

We did eat here again as we had a half day at this side of town and had no other veggie options. I ordered the noodle soup and again checked but it did come with loads of egg mixed in.

Pros: Cheap

Cons: Not vegan, Serves meat?

Basic

We came here a couple times but never felt welcome. The food was ok but nothing special, but can't complain for the cheap price. We had the carrot salad which was nice at the start but after a couple mouthfuls is very samey. We saw one of the staff hit a dog on our second visit so we didn't return again.

Pros: Cheap

Cons: Staff not friendly, One staff hit a dog

Average

I ordered hot & sour vegetables with rice but got plain fried vegetables instead, which lacked all flavour. Had to pay the price of the hot & sour vegetables though.

My boyfriend had the noodle soup, which again lacked flavour.

So, unfortunately we didn't really think it was worth going there.

Pros: Cheap, Vegetarian only

Cons: Lack of flavour

salads are epic

We eat here every single day in Bagan ;)
The carrot and bean salads are out of this world.
Friend vegetable were good, but nothing special.
It’s extremely cheap so that’s great if you’re on the budget. You will pay about 1000 or 1500max per dish so you can create your own Burmese tapas.
The family who runs it is super lovely and they will always welcome you with a smile on their faces

Pros: super cheap , tasty salads

First tasty Burmese food I had

I was almost giving up eating something tasty in Myanmar but this place serves absolutely amazing food! Tip:when you order you should point out menu written in Burmese as sometimes they misunderstand what’s written in English and serve something you didn’t order. My favorite was pickled tea leaf salad. Crunchy and mild at the same time. Definitely worth visiting if you’re vegan/vegetarian. Tip2:noodle soup has egg in it. You should tell them not to put it if you’re vegan.

Pros: Cheap, Tasty, Friendly stuff(family business I suppose)

Cons: Nada

cheap, but not completely vegan

We’ve been to this place many times mostly because it cheap and stuff is super friendly. The food is traditional burmese. BUT! ITS NOT VEGAN/ VEGETARIAN PLACE. We were surprised, when we saw meet that served for burmese clients. However, they assured us that for us they serve only vegan food, with clean oil. And one more thing, they cook super slow.

Pros: cheap, friendly stuff , free tea

Cons: not a veg place, very slow

One of the best

I've had vegan food in most Asian countries and I'd rank Moe Pyae San among my top 3 Asian veg restaurants of all times. During my 3 days in Nyaung U I tried most of their salads and would HIGHLY recommend the tomato salad, seaweed salad and tea leaf salad. They are all crunchy and coleslaw like. Most dishes are 1000 kyat, beer 1500 kyat. The week I was there I'd say 20% of the guests were tourists. Sweetest staff.

Pros: Tasty, Staff, Inexpensive

Cons: Nothing

Vayan si les gusta lo auténtico. Simple y delicioso

Greatest food for a long time!

The perfect place if you're vegetarian/vegan or just miss eating vegetables and not greasy food :) I tried the tomato salad, aubergine salad and fried water grass, all yummy! Definitely surprised by the tomato salad in the best way.
Water is even cheaper than what you'd pay in front of the temples in Bagan!
I can only recommend! This place has seen quite a few travelers from all over the world and there'a even a Happy Cow drawing on the wall!!!

Pros: Soooo tasty and big portions, Smiling staff speaking English , Good Value

Cons: Better not to be in a rush

Nice quiet place

When I went there it was around 3pm so it was pretty quiet and nice. I liked their tea leaf salad a lot, and the fried noodles were also nice. I don't recommend the strawberry juice as it was quite bland.

Best Vegetarian in Nyang U

The family which runs the place is really friendly, we ate several times there and it tasted just amazing.
We were feeling just at home.

Taste the special eggplant salad.
