So good! - Edit
We had the Hashbrown Rancheros and TLT, both were amazing. The TLT isn’t a ton of food, so maybe get a side.

Get the cabbie! - Edit
Modern Times is my favorite place to get breakfast in the Twin Cities. As vegan friendly as the area is, finding good vegan breakfast options can be a challenge.
Read moreModern Times has a vegan menu. Most of their menu items can be made vegan. My go to is the [vegan] cabbie, add tempeh. It is so good. From the poblano peppers to the tofu egg to the basil mayo spread over toasted sourdough… I’m obsessed. They also have great drink options with several plant milks to choose from.
Pros: Sooooo many vegan options, Best vegan breakfast in the area, Outside dining option
Cons: Wait times can be long, It’s often loud and can be overstimulating

Yay for breakfast! - Edit
Finally found a breakfast place around here with multiple vegan options. Kids loved the chocolate chip pancakes and we had the burrito and hash. It was a little greasy, but super tasty! Will definitely be back to try other options!

delicious and plenty of options (vegan donuts MWF) - Edit
Delicious food, excellent portions. I had their tofu scramble with hash. Their hot chocolate is so good with vegan marshmallows. Their vegan donuts, only available Monday Wednesday and Friday, are the freshest you can get.

Full vegan menu, consistently astounding - Edit
This is probably my favorite omni restaurant. The vegan menu has over 20 items on it so you will definitely not be in want of options. Their breakfast items are astounding, everything hits just right. I had an omni friend say she liked my vegan food here better than her non-vegan food. It's really really good, go check it out.

Delicious vegan food! - Edit
Lots of vegan options here. They actually have an entire vegan menu. Brunch and lunch/dinner foods are great. The TLT was amazing and the Southside Hash is a go to for a brunch option.

Great sandwiches - Edit
It seemed almost every item on the menu could be veganized. I wasn't used to having so many options! Vegan baked goods are also available, and the sandwiches are especially tasty. Great atmosphere and affordable prices. Everything is heavy and oily, so it leaves you feeling a bit weighed down.

Neighborhood go-to - Edit
I’ve been going to Modern Times since it opened. The food is consistently delicious and they do their best to source local, seasonal products. While they’ve always had lots of vegan options, they recently made a vegan menu, which makes ordering even easier! Dishes I crave are the Good Morning Healing Earth, Evergreen, and Voyeur Melt. The garlic kale is a must!

Vegan options abound - Edit
Happened to be in town just at the perfectly wrong time. All the vegan places I wanted to check out were closed. They take holidays seriously in this town! Cut to me searching for vegan-friendly places that were open and happened upon Modern Times Cafe. What a lifesaver! After a long drive through towns that are not vegan-friendly, I happily devoured the bowl I purchased. I think it was the Southside with the vegan options but I was so road tired that I don't remember. I just know I am thankful for Modern Times having decent food, vegan options, and staying open longer than their competitors.

My Neighborhood Go-to - Edit
Modern Times is my neighborhood go-to. Tons of vegan options made in-house, and not just “super salad”/health food stuff. You want a vegan burger that will leave you with a stomach ache and 2 lbs heavier? Modern Times will gladly help with that.

Jonathan Richman = mouth orgasm - Edit
I love the Jonathan Richman sandwich so much! It’s a fried tofu sandwich on sourdough bread with veggie sausage, basil mayo, and tofu spread. Everyone I bring here to try the sandwich keeps coming back for it or dreaming about it later. It’s literally the best sandwich I’ve ever had! Their vegan French toast, pancakes, and hash browns are amazing too! This is a wonderful place for breakfast! It’s often very busy so you may end up waiting in the room to the left but you can get coffee while you wait.

This place should have 5 stars - Edit
I have been coming to this place for years with my mom (who is not vegan). It is perfect. The food is always great and the staff are really nice. They can get a little busy, but they can turn a table fast. It is better if you are a smaller group or 4 or less. I love their brunch menu and either get the evergreen or pancakes every time I go. Lunch is fine as well since the have grain bowls and sandwiches. Most of the food is local sourced as well.

Best breakfast! - Edit
It can be stressful deciding what to order! So many vegan items, all so good. The polenta with black beans is my favorite. It has all the flavor elements I need in life. So satisfying! Great coffee, service, location and general vibe. Even the waiting area is enjoyable.

New favorite vegan-friendly restaurant in Minneapolis - Edit
Would give them 5 stars if Happy Cow allowed it for not 100% vegan restaurants. Plenty of vegan options. Delicious food. Friendly staff. Feels very homey and comfortable.

a must try - Edit
They have some options that are different than your typical veggie burger. Menu clearly labeled with vegetarian and vegan options. Cool, eclectic space. Had the 2012 melt while there with some other vegan friends, we all loved it.

Blah - Edit
Service and food was blah. Not many soy free options. I requested a hash to be soy free and add extra veggies... it came with soy chorizo and hardly any veggies. I was hungry so I ate it and it wasn’t great and gave me the first acid reflux I’ve had since going vegan.

go-to for brunch - Edit
Modern times is one of my absolute favorite twin cities restaurants. Plenty of vegan options, and they don’t skimp on flavor. The polenta rancheros are especially tasty. The service is always super fast and polite, and they have limited patio seating when it’s nice out. Be prepared for a long wait because this is not a well kept secret in Minneapolis to say the least!

I could eat here daily - Edit
This was my first time in, and I was digging the vibe. Ordered chai and asked for a recommendation on the best vegan sandwich. There were plenty of options, and they all looked great. I went with the voyeur, which might have been the most perfect sandwich I've had this month. The chai was so good, I ordered another to go. This isn't health food, but it's delicious, loaded, and fast. I would love to come back and try more. There was plentiful street parking, not a ton of seating inside, but I was perfectly comfortable at the counter.

quirky - Edit
Not many soy free options that are vegan. I ended up getting a plate of veggies with tahini on top and a wet tortilla. That being said, the kale was cooked perfectly and it was pretty tasty. They have lots of gluten free options, too. The place itself is quirky and attracts young counter culture customers.

good food and atmosphere - Edit
The cafe has an amazing atmosphere. Very cool alternative and counter culture art all over the place. The food matches the style. The vegan breakfast burrito is more "beefy" than I had imagined but still delicious. The garlic fries are also out of this world.

Caters to vegans, vegetarians, and carnivores!
Read moreFantastic food, fantastic atmosphere, fantastic service. I even ended up buying a couple pieces of a local artist's work that were on exhibit.
DEFINITELY coming back, and telling everyone to go get some!! I also recommend checking Google for the busy times, it's pretty accurate.
I went: around 9am Monday morning. (We tried going around the same time on Sunday, but the wait time was about 30-35 minutes.)
I had: Curry Scrambled Tofu, Vegan sausage, hashbrowns and toast. (Unfortunately I devoured it before I remembered to take a photo!!)
Pros: Great ambiance, Delicious food, Friendly staff that cares about your dietary needs
Cons: Wait time on weekends can be a pain.

My favorite breakfast in Mpls - Edit
Amazing greasy spoon type diner, with a healthy/sustainable twist. Menu clearly marked vegan/veg, staff completely gets it when you specify vegan.
Read moreProvides vegan comfort breakfast foods and sandwiches, plus plenty of healthier options. Also has non veg options for your friends that can't kick the habit.
The vegan Southside hash is where it's at! The tvp chorizo and avocado crema really make the dish. Hard to turn down the Pancakes, too.
Pros: Lots of vegan options, clearly marked., Everything had has been amazing.
Cons: Does not get that fifth star because it is not all, Also, for brunch on the weekends it is crowded! Pr
