Forever my favorite restaurant in the Midwest - Edit
I have driven an hour and a half just to eat at this place. It remains worth the drive. Dinner and lunches are nice, but definitely check out brunch if you get the chance. Can’t wait to go again next time I’m in town

Great options, taste and service - Edit
Sat at the bar with a non vegan buddy. Had some beers, and had the fried mozzarella, and had Brussel sprouts to start. The Brussel sprouts were amazing. I ordered the seitan beet Reuben. It was really delicious and filling. The number of fries they give you are out of those world and delicious. Ultimately, everything was super delicious. I just think the mozzarella could be a little more melty like miyokos.

Great for vegan comfort food! - Edit
I was so excited to move close enough to eat at this restaurant regularly! The mac and cheese is amazing, and I’ve trued several different salads, too. Everything I’ve tried has been great. And best of all, my non-vegan friends enjoy it too!

Always delicious! - Edit
I go out of my way to visit Modern Love every time I'm in town. This time I got the Mac and shews with kale (a favorite), and the fried mozzarella. Wow- the fried mozz was so good- I may go back tomorrow to get that again!

Mixed Results, sub-par service - Edit
Isa Chandra Moskowitz was my hero when I became vegan in 2004. When Modern Love first opened around 2013, I was in awe to see her in person serving the food. I was very excited to pass through Omaha 10 years later for another excellent experience.
Read moreUnfortunately, it was not the place I remembered. The new location has some purple-pink vibe but not the same cozy atmosphere as before. The menu has changed and the service has gone downhill.
While the calamari was delicious AF and my partner’s chickpea cutlet was as well, the vegan burger tastes burnt and the cheese was unappetizing. They even forgot to include the burger patty when they served it the first time. Our server had such a bad attitude and couldn’t be more obvious she hated her job, which really detracted from a positive dining experience and feeling empowered to ask if I could substitute the burger. Gave me the impression that the new management doesn’t hire or treat their employees well.
I don’t usually critique the service. As a past server I understand people have difficult days, but this was a whole ‘nother level of “I don’t give a F”.

Cute - Edit
A nice sit down restaurant with cute decor. I had the Seitan Beet Ruben which was amazing! I also had a strawberry shake which was a bit pricy, but cute and super tasty!

Yummy sandwiches for a great price! - Edit
They have a bunch of delicious sandwiches which are all very reasonably priced! They also have some delicious shakes that are pretty fancy looking, though they are a bit on the pricey side.

Nice brunch despite missing items - Edit
We had a nice brunch here in Omaha, including a chicken-bacon (tofu and tasty mushrooms) ranch sandwich, a heaping plate of nachos, and matcha mint shake. The main disappointment was that a lot of the menu was out of stock, including almost all of the starters aside from the nachos. Hopefully that was a temporary issue!

Simply perfection - Edit
I was very excited to try this restaurant, as I, like most vegans, am a big fan of Isa's cookbooks. It did not disappoint. The non-vegans I went with also loved it. One said it was the best meal she had in Omaha. I don't think you can go wrong with your order, so try whatever sounds good.

Perfection - Edit
Traveling through Nebraska and was so happy to find Modern Love. I had the Fettuccine Alfredo with garlic and pesto. It was the best I’ve ever had. It came with toasty garlic bread and greens. Delicious. I took a slice of the peanut butter candy chocolate cheesecake back to the hotel room with a cup of oat milk. What a treat.

Hard to choose just 1 thing! - Edit
It’s soooo refreshing to eat at a 100% vegan restaurant and not have to play 20 questions with the server about what you can eat. At Modern Love I still asked questions but they were delightfully focused on trying to narrow down my order to something other than “one of everything”.
Read moreFor the appetizer we ordered the Roasted Beat Hummus. All of the “dippers” complimented the hummus. We really liked the warm grilled pita bites. The hummus was pink which made it fun, and was not overwhelmingly “beety”.
My daughter ordered the Goddess Bowl and says it was a great blend of tangy and savory flavors that all worked well together.
I ordered the Mushroom Fried Chick’n which was a total comfort food experience and was hard to stop eating.
Neither of us could finish our meals so we even have leftovers for later.
My daughter (who is vegetarian) ordered the Peanut Butter Chocolate Shake as a “to go” dessert. She says it tasted like a Reeses Peanut Butter Cup milkshake with no weird vegan taste :)
We’ll be back next time we visit Omaha for sure.
