My First - Edit
Modern Love was the first vegan restaurant I dined at. The venue is so elegant and cozy. This is definitely a nice date night option. Modern Love gives large portions so you will definitely have some left over to take home or you'll be so full you may not make it home lol. There are lots of options available and great wine options as well.

Wonderful food, cool place - Edit
Best vegan Eggs Benedict I've ever had, and I've had so many. Modern Love is the first place I've been to that focused on the flavor of the hollandaise sauce, as opposed to just the color (although it's the right color too!)
Read moreThe fried mozzarella app was also incredible, as was the peanut butter cheesecake. Really great brunch, had a solid drink menu as well.

Good Comfort Food - Edit
The menu had many options to choose from. I gave this restaurant only 4 stars because a majority of the menu items were heavily fried. I chose one of the few options that was not fried. I had the Green Goddess Bowl (a new menu addition). It was amazing - lots of flavor and delicious! I would give that menu item a 5 star rating! Overall, reasonably priced restaurant. I would go back!

New Favorite Restaurant - Edit
I had such an amazing dining experience at Modern Love. The food was so incredibly amazing. I ordered the garlic parmesan seitan wings app and the grilled polenta with hazelnut romesco chickpeas and charred broccolini as my main. They both tasted better than I could’ve anticipated, and everybody else’s food looked and smelled amazing in passing. The cocktails were adorable as well. The presentation was adorable. The staff were all so friendly, and it was such a welcoming environment. The diversity of the crowd just screamed Brooklyn, and I cannot emphasize enough how happy I am that this place is only a half mile from my apartment.

Delicious - Edit
I love what that the menu is constantly changing. The food here is done in a creative way much like blossom and candle 79. I would say most of the things I’ve had here are great. I like to say I’ve tried most of the menu but it seems like every time I go back they have new items. I always end up spending a small fortune here. Worth it though.

Mostly great food - Edit
Delicious food. We came here because I was I was gifted a recipe book of amazing-looking food, and found that the author is a prolific vegan chef, and started this restaurant. Kinda high prices for the amount of food, but probably good quality stuff.
Read more* mushroom burger - delicious, but she said would have been even better with something like sriracha, or something spicy
*Fried Maitake 'chicken' - Maitake is my favorite mushroom, and it actually did resemble chicken quite well. It would have been mind-blowing if it was salted properly, or had some MSG seasoning. It was sorely lacking salt and would have been very bland had the gravy on the mashed potatoes not been there to dip into; even the tasty gravy wasn't really ideal, a more dedicated dipping sauce would have been great. The coleslaw was excellent, tasted just like nonvegan coleslaw.
* mac and cheese - excellent, had a tangy and a little spicy house-made cheese sauce, tasted surprising and unlike any vegan mac I've had before. Luckily there was too much bread on the burger so i was able to use that to finish all the remaining cheese after I finished my Mac. Setain was a little dense and dry.
* Brussel sprouts app - amazing
* strawberries & brie app - great, wow those pickled grapes
* pesto buccatini - good
* cheesecake - okay, had much better vegan versions
* chocolate chip cookie served with caramel and ice cream - great, wish the caramel was a bit thicker
* strawberry ice cream sundae - great

Go here - Edit
I have had Isa’s books for a very long time. So I am a fan. A good friend of mine raves about the Modern Love in Omaha (vegan and gluten free). So, early 2020 I went with my partner. Are too much because everything was too good. Went back this year for Valentine’s Day- same kind of feelings. I recommend getting a reservation just because it is popular.

Kind of heavy and inconsistent, but a few things keep me coming back - Edit
Probably a bit less than a 4, but I keep coming back for the mashed potatoes, the Mac and shews, the tofu cutlets and marinara sauce, and the milkshakes (get it with oat instead of rice milk). Unimpressed by the nachos; one of the only places to get vegan pastas but it’s always a bit disappointing. And of course very expensive. Desserts can be meh.

Ok but not worth the trip to Brooklyn - Edit
Visited this place when they were kinda newly opened in 2017, remembered it as good so we went back and was totally disappointed. Overpriced, no flavour. You get a very little amount of wine, like half a glass when you pay for a full glass for $11.
Read moreCheese plate with brie tasted nothing, with pickled grapes that took over all flavor. Totally unbalanced flavors.
Pasta pesto burrata with garlic bread, no garlic on the dry bread which tasted like smoke.

I used to think this restaurant was over hyped and trendy but with the pandemic this place has been really consistent in their quality their safety and I’m glad to have them be a part of the NYC vegan restaurants community

vegan dinner spot - Edit
This place is highly regarded in the NY vegan community, which says we need more vegan restaurants of this kind in Brooklyn. Something very overlooked with the vegan scene leaning more toward hand foods and quick service than dinner date experiences. They have many veganized versions of popular dishes for those who don’t want to adventure too far from what they know. The “Hen of the Woods Piccata” might be my favorite dish.
Read moreMy biggest gripe is that you better like salt, because it seems to be the main ingredient after trying to this spot on more than 5 occasions.
The ambiance and options are great. The food isn’t the best, not the worst, I do find myself avoiding it and taking the trek to Manhattan competitors, through. I’ll keep trying, because I want to believe!

Meh, I expected better - Edit
I’ve wanted to come to Modern Love for years. Saved it for our last meal out on our trip, and was pretty let down. We tried the seitan buffalo wings for an app - VERY dense, and not hot. Between the two of us we also ordered the Mac and cheese with tofu and the tofu bacon sandwich. Both were… fine. Way overpriced. Edible, moderately enjoyable, but not the impressive food I expected from such a well-known vegan place. I had even asked the server for his top recommendations and ordered the Mac and cheese based on that!

I ate here for my birthday and it was amazing. I couldn’t have asked for a better place to celebrate. The staff was so nice and the food was perfect. I got fried mushrooms with mashed potatoes, lemon cake in a jar, and a strawberry milkshake. The milkshake was so good!

Yes it is that good - Edit
People rave about this place. I had a gift card from a friend so I was ok blowing some money and getting several things on the menu. The nachos, Brussels sprouts, and chocolate peanut butter cheesecake were all amazing. I also had the jerk tofu which was good though I realized jerk isn’t my thing.
