Serves meat, vegan options available. Chain of assembly line style, make-your-own pizza restaurants. Has vegan cheese, sausage, and crust. The vegan sauces are red, bbq, and garlic rub. Add as many toppings as you'd like.
They have good vegan options, but out of all vegan build your own pizzas this isn’t my favorite personally. They skimp a bit on the amount of vegetables they put on your pizzas and they are a little burnt as well. Not too bad for a one time stop but I wouldn’t go to this location again.
Redding has very few restaurants with good vegan options and pizza in Redding usually means no cheese. We are a cheesy vegan family and Mod is ideal for us. Their vegan cheese is good, but you might want to ask for extra. They make your pizza as you choose items and direct. The crust is terrific and toppings diverse, but no meat substitutes. The finishing sauces add a fun touch and they have delivery and pickup options. The atmosphere is always fun with witty staff and hip music. On weekend weekend evenings the music can be loud and it feels like a party.
We’re not huge fans of loud restaurants and this place was exceptionally loud when we were there. Music on full blast, parents letting kids race toy cars on tables... So we bee-lined for the quieter outdoor patio in the sweltering 100 degree weather. Our vegan pizzas were ok, pretty small with thin crackery crust...filled us up for traveling kind of food.
Its a "build your own pizza" kinda place, unless you want to order a pizza or salad off the menu. I've never ordered the cheeze or the sauce, I always order olive oil and crushed garlic spread on the gluten free crust and then load it with veggies. It's delicious!!
After reading the other reviews I decided not to get any of the vegan cheese. I instead got lots of veggies and the balsamic sauce topper which was delicious. The crust was crunchy and the tomato sauce was flavorful. For less than 10 bucks it is a great vegan lunch option
Generally, I skip vegan cheese on most everything, however there are a few that are palatable in moderation. The "cheeze" MOD offers is not in this category. We found both of the pizzas we ate to be extremely disapointing, and our stomachs were quite uncomfortable for the rest of the afternoon. Skip the slimy goopy fake cheese and go to Cinders when in Redding.
I love the concept, but the texture and flavor of the vegan cheese is awful. I don’t know. Maybe it actually imitates dairy cheese pretty well and I’ve just lost the taste for it. It’s super gooey and kind of flavorless, like it’s made mostly of agar/xantham gum to make it melt. I’d rather have a simple vegan parm (crushed almond and nutritional yeast).
Been to Mod 3 times in the last 2 weeks. Hit them in Lynnwood, Washington, Novato & Redding, California. I asked for double sauce, olives, tomatoes, onions, artichoke hearts, vegan cheese. For under 9 bucks it’s pretty good.
They have different options for toppings and they have vegan mozzarella that was amazing. I got the Dillon James minus the Asiago, plus mushrooms- best vegan pizza yet!
Hipster staffers were extremely friendly and cognizant of vegan needs. Two pizza crafters actually put on fresh gloves to build my pie without cross contamination - I didn't have to ask. I love that you can add as many toppings as you like for one low price. Fresh chopped herbs and roasted cauliflower were welcomed and unique. One staffer went out of his was to visit my table and ask how I was enjoying my pizza.
Unfortunately, they don't have the vegan options stated clearly on their menu. A quick search on their website showed that their pizza crust was vegan and they had vegan cheese!! It was super good and they had lots of veggies to add on top.
