Serves meat, vegan options available. At sunset each evening around 6pm, multiple fast food vendors set up tables for casual dinners. You'll find options like vegetarian fry rice or chao mien/fry noodle dish among other options. Note that MSG is used so ask to leave it out. Ingredients used are conventional. Come early and be the first person to order so food and cooking utensils are not contaminated with meats orders.

Ferry Plaza Food Stalls

My review is from 2018. I have been to Tahiti for business a few times for work and found it can be very difficult to find vegan options on this island, especially when dining with coworkers (who eat meat). I found this was a best bet for a super casual option where mostly everyone will leave happy. I recall there being two places with vegan options. Good luck! And here's to hoping Tahiti becomes more vegan friendly in the future. At least they have delicious fresh fruit and veggies!

Tuk Tuk

Now that Burger Machine is closed (since sept. 2016), there is just Tuk Tuk food truck that is offering decent vegan food with soups, maine dishes and veggie rolls.

Although it happened several times that I found small pieces of chicken in my ”vegan” soup..:
I think it’s really vegan recipes but they are probably not very careful with the tools they use for the service, and probably don’t pay attention not to mix them with their omnivore part.

Pros: Good food, Price = ok

Cons: Found tiny pieces of chicken in my soup, Happened several times

La Burger Machine

This food truck has 1 vegan lentil burger option served in a bread roll with lettuce, tomato and Fried onions. The only sauce that is vegan is the tomato sauce. Served with french fries or Uru chips. It was really good and the portion size was huge! Also the staff speak good english and its written vegan burger on their menu. Its a great atmosphere and worth a visit.

Pros: Great vegan fast food , staff speak english, Great Atmosphere

Cons: Also serves meat , only 1 vegan option

great scene and ambiance, not too many options

There's a great new truck called La Burger Machine that will substitute lentil burgers for any patty. Delicious. Most of the other trucks (about ten) had few vegetarian options but they seem to think fish is vegetarian

Hit or Miss

Although there are about 9-10 mobile vendors cooking up Chinese hot foods and Pizzas, the choice for vegetarians is rather limited to vegetable fried noodles, veg fried rice, and some with tofu. I tried a veg rice dish at the "Hong Kong" stall and ask the chef to leave out the MSG, but I think he put it in anyway or maybe it was the canned mushrooms he used, because I didn't feel so good afterwards... the taste was okay, but the MSG made me feel bad. There is another Chinese food stall "Kim" that look decent, so maybe that one is a better try!

Pros: fast, baquette served with meal, affordable

Cons: not 100% vegetarian, not organic, maybe bad cooking oils

Nothing for Vegans

Ive been here many times over the years and have never found anything vegan. There are stalls that do stir fries but I would never trust the pots etc.

Better off to shop in the main large grocery stores for staple items (where prices are capped on staple items)and the public market for produce.

Some of the guest houses have kitchens where you can cook.

Most of the higher end rest. Ive been to in Pap. are expensive for the quality/quantity of food.

Pros: people watching, view

Cons: nothing vegan
