Best Smithsonian cafe

I make a point to eat here whenever I'm doing the tourist circuit in D.C.

Pros: Great vegetable options!, Something for everyone

Delicious vegan options

Drawing on many indigenous traditions, the food here is delicious. We loved the fry bread (not vegan!) and three sisters stew and the chance to eat nopales (cactus). Other sides, including the manoomin cake can be combined to make a filling meal.

Did you confirm the fry bread is vegan? I went today because I’ve heard it’s good and they told me it contains milk.

That's good to know. We weren't told that. I'll change my caption.

Maybe it’s different each day or someone was misinformed. I’ve seen many other vegans say they’ve tried it too so I’m not sure.

Lots of Healthy Options

I had the Three Sisters Soup (which was delicious) topped with pickled onions and cilantro. It wasn't labeled, but I asked and staff confirmed it was vegan. I also had nopales and jicama.

Food was labeled with V, but I wasn't sure whether that meant vegan or vegetarian. I wish there had been clear signage to differentiate.

Pros: Quiet atmosphere , Lots of healthy, creative, yummy options , Convenient location

Cons: Vegan food not clearly labeled (need to ask staff), Expensive

Many healthy options

We loved the variety, flavor and options available! Although the signs say vegetarian, most options are actually vegan and staff can confirm. So many plant forward yummy dishes, our favorite museum food spot.

Pros: Healthy delicious options , Lots of variety

Cons: Signage says vegetarian so confirm verbally

Loved the Mushroom Salad and the 3 Sisters Salad. Fry bread was great. Just wished I had room to try everything.
