100% vegan supper club - Edit
Went to the supper club last night - amazing! Cauliflower pakora and cauliflower hummus to start - delicious crispy cauliflower on the outside with a tasty soft accompaniment. Main was a robust mushroom and bean chilli with pumpkin rice and crispy wedges with smashed avocado, then charred corn on the cob piece with pickled onion. Dessert was a revelation steamed sponge with banana ice cream melting on it and a caramel sauce.

Cute cafe - Edit
Mistal is a gorgeous cafe opposite the chevin forest park. Lots of vegan choices on the menu. We settled for the beans on toast and gochujang fries with a side of avocado. Portions were generous, and the homemade beans were excellent. The cakes at the counter were tempting, but we were too full. Would recommend booking a table to avoid disappointment as it was very busy.

Smashing Avocado - Edit
It was fantastic to find this interesting little café half way along our walk on the Ebor Way. A mistal is a barn for cows and it had been one in decades past. Now it is a cosy dales type café which has a wide offering of food for vegans and is otherwise all vegetarian. The tomato and basil soup was filling, and the daily special of battered cauliflower bowl with avocado and hummus was satisfying, although a little oily. There were vegan burgers and sandwiches and a large selection of sides to choose from. And by the till there were several vegan cakes to treat yourself with. The atmosphere was fairly informal compared to how I imagined it would be, and walkers and their dogs are welcome.
