Two of us came back to visit one of our favorite places. We came to enjoy a vegan Caprese Avocado Toast on a Saturday afternoon. We have been accustomed to super fresh avocado, excellent vegan mozzarella, and delicious balsamic glaze. All around excellent!

However it seems this restaurant has changed hands. Our experience was very different than any of our other visits. Our order was misunderstood somehow. We were served regular avocado toast. No vegan mozzarella, or delicious balsamic glaze. Our order was returned a second time with dairy based mozzarella. Upon delivery we let our server know. He confirmed our suspicions and delivered a statement of skepticism; whether or not we actually ordered vegan. We confirmed we definitely ordered vegan, we are vegans after all. From there he delivered a comment that passed the blame on to someone else he works with. When someone delivers an ounce of contempt that is handling my food I begin to worry. He took our food back a second time.

I got up with my companion and took back our order flag to the counter. Made contact with an employee and told her to tell him not to worry about our order any more. She merely confirmed my statement. That was the end of our visit. It cost us roughly $21.00 for a coffee and kombucha; no refund was offered.

Great New Organic Cafe!! - Edit

This place is such a breath of fresh air in Venice where healthy/vegan options are so difficult (nearly impossible!) to come by! We had a lovely chat with the owner who shared his passion for providing organic and healthy options (sandwiches, salads, smoothies, juices, etc) and he explained that they just opened in September 2022.

We ordered a few smoothies for takeaway (most are vegan — they use vegan protein and almond milk!), which were pricey, but so delicious (the mocha nut one was 10/10!), it was worth the price in my opinion and also it’s great to be supporting a local business that has a positive mission. The cafe was buzzing and seemed like a great place to sit and have lunch so will definitely be returning to try. Everything is made fresh so vegetarian items can be made vegan. Noticed they did have a vegan baked good option, hope they’ll be adding more in the future!
