We keep going back…

Such a good place to grab a quick and flavorful meal! Love having so many vegan options as well as many GF options. The staff is always friendly and has helped us figure out what I can and can’t have..
The winter rolls are a favorite same with the lemongrass tofu. My Omni husband has tried multiple different meals and always loves the food. He loves the Hawaiian Delight.

Pros: Lots of vegan options, Lots of GF options, Inexpensive

Cons: Menu online is hard to navigate (GF/V)

Delicious with vegan options

I have been to this restaurant a handful of times even when I was still eating meat everything that I have had has been very tasty fresh. The staff is really friendly and I think the price is reasonable

Pros: Lots of vegan options, Fresh and flavorful food, Decent price

Good SEA choice

Lots of vegan options on the menu. Try the sampler platter. Really enjoyed the spicy noodle soup as well, and the Thai Iced Tea was amazing. The ambience is bright and clean, and the service is great.

Save the grief and just go to Loving Hut!

My husband, who is a strict vegan, and I were very excited to try out this place near where we're staying. However, problems arose immediately: my thai tea had a fly in it, and the Peace Curry I ordered was unnaturally hot-- the kind of piping hot that you get when you microwave food. My husband's pad thai was also suspiciously not fresh: the noodles were all melded together. In short, the food didn't taste that great, it wasn't made fresh to order, and was obnoxiously expensive for what you got. Don't go here. Go to Loving Hut, where we've had a consistently excellent experience. You won't regret it, but if you go to Mint & Basil, you will!

Pros: Vegan options

Cons: Terrible food quality and presentation

Okay Food

I came here with a party of 3 on a Monday afternoon for lunch and we were seated quickly.

Our party decided to share the Garlic Chicken ($8.50) appetizer. It tasted all right, but should've been complemented with some rice because it's salty to eat just by itself. Although it came with cucumber slices, it didn't seem to complement the chicken.

I wasn't feeling like eating anything too heavy, but also didn't want a salad, so I ordered Tom Kha Soup ($12) because I was feeling some sweet/savory/creamy flavors for the day! Although it was under "Soups to Share," I was craving it a lot and managed to finish most of it with some soup leftover.

My main complaint was that the pineapple cores were not cut out, and halfway through my meal, my mouth was feeling numb. The soup was was more acidic than it was creamy, so I don't think I would order this for just myself again.

Pros: Very modern interior, Ambient music, Affordable

Cons: Kind of slow service

Delicious imitation meat

The imitation meat was very delicious. They have perfected the texture for imitation beef, bacon, shrimp and chicken. The food was a bit oily. There was only one waiter and as the restaurant got busier it was difficult to get his attention.

Pros: Lots of vegan options, Delicious imitation meat

Cons: Food was a bit oily

Good food, service can be better

Very glad we found this place where there are so many vegan choices. The food was very good. We ordered spring rolls, Malaysian noodles, and stir fried eggplant. Liked all of them the two of us finished everything (I guess we eat a lot lol). The service can definitely be improved as it took them a while to take our order but it wasn't anything too bad and the server was actually nice. For the food, I'm willing to wait a bit. Once the order was taken, the food came out quickly. Overall very nice experience.

Great Vietnamese vegan fare!

I love the bun bo hue (spicy “beef” noodles) here! The broth is delicious! The best part is that it was only $10!

Pros: The entire menu is vegan or can be made vegan, Very reasonably priced

Cons: Stingy with ice for the water

Meh

I came here to celebrate a friend’s birthday, and my friend has eaten here many times. When we received our dishes, my friend noticed a drastic difference in taste, quality, and portion size. The second dish did not come out until 20 minutes after the first dish and it was cold and not good... possibly one of the worst vegan dishes I’ve ordered (the Malaysian Noodles). Water never got refilled (in fact they just gave a carafe, which is ok but it should have been on the table then...), and we tried calling a waiter several times but was ignored. He glanced over and said nothing!!

Pros: Vegan options are clearly marked, Interior is beautiful

Cons: Poor service, Poor food quality and consistency, Small portions

Great food, awful service—visit their Storey Road location instead!

Staff need to step up their service big time! This location is much worse than their location on Storey Road. Totally inattentive service (no water refills, no attention whatsoever during meal, overhanging for two missing food items on the bill!), sold out of both roti bread and coconuts, and included mushrooms in the curry even when ask not to. Staff and management need to step up their game here—a lot! I was also overcharged $6 and it took refunds and refills to correct their mistakes. When confronted about their poor service, staff seems apathetic and disinterested.

Pros: Great food, Fresh, Selection

Cons: Service, Staff, Inattentiveness

Didn't like it

Food was not great. Came out too cold. Out of what we ordered the Pho was the best.
Portions were big, too big and too much food waste. I think 2 dishes are enough for 3 persons.
We felt drowsy immediately after eating, probably because we overate.
Many people eating there. On a Friday evening the place was pretty full.

Pros: big parking lot

So glad I found this!

The food was great. You get so much food for a great price, and it's nice if you like splitting a meal. They have vegetarian options, so make sure to ask for vegan noodles. Over all, this will be my go to spot every time I'm in Milpitas!

Pros: abundant options , great flavor , amazing customer service

Awesome Vegetarian Vietnamese

I have visited Mint & Basil numerous times now. I've been there by myself for lunch, with my partner and friends/family for dinner. The food is consistently good and the owner is very friendly and passionate about their mission.

I had been confused as to why a Vietnamese restaurant in a (mainly) Chinese plaza had a mostly Indian waitstaff. It turns out, the owners take their vegetarian philosophy very seriously. If you're not vegetarian, you don't work there.

As I mentioned originally, the rolls are quite good. If you're with a group, I would recommend the All Seasons Sampler for a great assortment. I have enjoyed all the main dishes I have tried. So far the stand out dishes have been ThaiBinh Curry, Spicy Lemongrass Chicken and Rock-n-Roll beef. They offer brown rice as an option and can cater to vegan, gluten-free and peanut-free dietary needs.

I haven't tried much from their Drinks & Dessert menu, but I can say the Vietnamese Coffee is great. Also, their Thai Iced Tea is vegan!

Pros: Pretty convincing vegetarian versions of Vietnames, All-vegetarian staff, Vegan Thai Iced Tea!

Cons: Service is friendly, but not always efficient
