Minh Chay - Hang Gai

The service was great! They were so nice and attentive. A couple staff speak English quite well, not totally necessary because it's all vegan. We got the tofu snail soup and it was very, very bland. We had some theories though. We had been eating at a lot of kind of hole in the wall com chay joints, which I think spells MSG. This restaurant does not use msg, which is really good! But maybe that made it seem like the soup was lacking? I hadn't had a bad soup yet in Vietnam. So many good spicy, sour, sweet ones to try. But this one definitely left something to be desired. Probably won't go back because of the relatively high prices. But saw some western food being served there as well. That could be worth a try if you have the need.

Slightly more expensive than other Viatnamese restaurants but it's in a big city and its a nice place. Food was really good. Staff are super friendly.

I went to this Minh Chay three times because it was close to my hostel (Nexy). The food is really good, but I wouldn't say it's above and beyond amazing. I had the pho twice because I was sick and it did help me feel a lot better. I also had the pasta, which was light and tasty, and I tried some of my friend's food which was some type of vegan pâté, veggie sausage, fries, and bread. I'm not a huge fan of fake meat, but it was pretty good actually! If you're visiting with a meat lover, it would be interesting to see if he/she thinks the sausage taste like real sausage.

Visited 2 branches of Minh Chay and this one definitely had better ambience. A few of their dishes were a little disappointing (including the fried noodles) but their veggie pho is excellent and very close in taste to the traditional meat version. Definitely worth a visit

Invited in for good veggie Vietnamese food but then told they'd run out of both rice and noodles (which is ridiculous if true), leaving only the very expensive western dishes. Place was empty and very pretentious. You can do a lot better for a lot cheaper in Hanoi.

Newly opened last month on Hang Gai one of the main streets in the old quarter. That great word VEGAN outside the restaurant is prominently displayed. The food is both western and Vietnamese. Great choices. I had my second vegan burger in Vietnam. Was well presented came with fries and salad. Had passionfruit juice. Bill came to 135.000d around $7. The menu is step up from the Loving Huts prices, but worth the visit
