Nice Cheap Food

Just called in here for my last meal before leaving Chiang Mai, and the food was fantastic. Not sure what it was called what I had, as it’s ordered from a buffet style, but it was so tasty (so spicy too). Staff didn’t speak English, but we’re still so warm and friendly.

My meal (see picture) cost 40 BAHT (£1). I had one portion of rice, and the other dish was two portions for reference.

Good selection, great prices and very tasty. You can come here at least every day, and even several times a day.

Cheap

Not the restaurant to go to if you wish for some privacy, go there for cheap, vegan Thai food. I would not rank 5 stars because the food wasn't so amazing, it was great for the price you pay.

Pros: Many vegan options , Cheap

Cons: Hard to communicate , The prices are not clear, Sitting with strangers

Cheap local place

If you want to have cheap food this is the place to go. Food is super filling. The only flaw is that the dishes are a bit too salty.

Very good choice of food

Impressed with the range of food and it’s built mostly around vegetables not mock meats. Cheap price for large portion although the food was cold (that’s a risk you take with this style place and I accept the risk).

Pros: Good choice , Cheap

Cons: Choices I picked were cold

Very good food

We could choose from a lot of vegan options here. Most of them contained fake meat which tasted really good. You can also get rice that goes really well with the vegetables. The springrolls come with a little bit of sweet chili sauce. We paid around 70 Baht for rice and 3 toppings. The food was really delicious and makes you quite full.

Edit: We went there again and got rice and 2 toppings plus one springroll for 50 Baht.

Hmm! Wow this was the best vegetarian food I’ve eaten in Chiang Mai. What a gem.

There were many delicious options, vegetables, amazing meat-like things, spring rolls, I would almost go back to Chiang Mai just so I can eat here again.

Pros: Delicious and many options, So cheap!, Nice and spicy options

Thai style Veg food

Typical pre-cooked Thai Veg food. The taste is ok, The value is very good.
It is very popular a peak hours. Sometimes hard to find a seat.
Free water and added spices on most tables.
This is not my style of place, but worth while when I am in a hurry or want a cheap meal

Pros: Very Cheap, Good Central location, Several choices of food available

Cons: Pre-cooked food isn't always warm or hot

The best khao soy in the city!

This place has been a staple for me the whole time I have lived here, and it has only got better over the years. It is affordable and delicious. They tend to put most of the seasonings on the table so you can add them to your own taste, but this is authentic local food therefore the spicy dishes will still be spicy. Well I love spicy food, if you do not, you can ask them first. Staff speak a little English and are very friendly. They have the best khao soy in the city and the noodle soup is great too. Highly recommended!

Pros: Wide, seasonal menu, Cheap and cheerful, Amazing khao soy

Is there a name for this type of restaurant on Thailand? I’m Vietnam it’s Com Chay and they are everywhere in city’s and near pagodas in smaller places.

Yeah it's the same kind of place but I'm not aware they have a specific name in this way in Thailand. I think they are just known as gin jay or ahaan jay stores (eat veg/veg food)

Fantastic Value!

Prices here tend to vary, I've paid 40฿, 50฿ and 55฿, but never more than that.
Different varieties of food on different days. I always go for rice and 2 - 5 different dishes.

Pros: Super good value, Lots of options , Traditional feel

Cons: Food isn't always very warm

one of my favorites

it's a typical thai restaurant. they have different dishes on their buffetl-style bar. gou get rice with 2 dishes for 35b, 5baht per extra dish.
their khao soi is the best in town, unfortunately the noodles are not vegan (egg noodles), but you can get the curry with rice instead of noodles.
they have delicious fried food (fried springrolls, mushrooms etc) and their mushroom meat is incredibly good!
their food is sometimes a little oily and sweet (thai people put sugar in all their foods), but still delicious
the staff is friendly, but not overly welcoming or putting the extra work into service, which I don't mind, since this is a place whwre you go for the food and don't realky spend much time there

So good

I’ve been to quite a few vegan Thai places in Thailand and this one is one of the best. When I went for lunch today, there was a fresh batch of veggies and some kind of squash massaman curry and it was SO good. I also got an egg roll and that was 🙌🏼. A full plate was 50 baht. Cost varies depending on how much you get.

Pros: Lost of vegan options, Tasty, Fresh (depends on what time you go)

Cons: Sometimes they run out

Very yummy food for a great price!

It’s very nice going to a place where you know there’s been no meat contamination and Ming Kwan made that know which was lovely! The food was very yummy and cheap, the only reason I didn’t give 5 stars was because the spring rolls were cold and they had no means of warming them up. But overall a great meal.
