Disappointing - Edit
The service was alright and the cafe was cute— I was quite excited. I’m not gluten-free so maybe that’s where I went wrong. I got the pesto “tuna” sandwich to go. Sadly, the bread was rock hard, and the sandwich was poorly constructed and lacked flavor. What a bummer!

Hidden Gem!!! - Edit
Sooo glad I finally checked this place out. Such a quaint spot with a huge dessert selection, made-to-order breakfast / lunch menu and coffee beverages! Great prices, super friendly staff & cute space. I got the biscuit egg sandwich with a dirty chai and they were to die for. They also have a weekend exclusive brunch menu. Just wish they had earlier hours during the week. Highly recommend!!

... odd? - Edit
I don't even know how to adequately describe the things I tried - they were just odd! Such strange textures, beyond the usual gluten-free struggles. The only thing I liked was the buttercream topping. I wanted to love this place, but I'm afraid it's a miss for me!

Mindful Baking Cafe - Edit
I had the chocolate brownie and it tasted nice, but it was a little gritty. I appreciated the option.

Displays are a willpower test… - Edit
Only had a breakfast sandwich as I was taking advantage of a late arrival at an office nearby and this would be blunch.
Read moreSandwich flavoring was great, it was hearty and plenty of potatoes, the box was substantially heavier, and I’m much fuller than anticipated. Not sure about the cheese and egg components separately, but together it was a good 3/4 of a sandwich; the last 1/4 being fork food :-)
The bread was great for gf and better than I had expected. A bigger surprise was that the price for the sandwich, vegan/gf and the neighborhood was very reasonable.
I’m not gf and I’ve had their products before with gf family and I find them to be great for gf and vegan baked goods. I did pass the willpower test tho and stuck with the sandwich.
Pros: All vegan , Price was hella fair for the amount of savory food, Cute little shop
Cons: Stop tempting me to eat baked goods :-)

A valiant effort, but the food is mid - Edit
I'm not sure why my experience differs so much from the norm, but while the coffee was good, the food was mediocre.
Read moreThe texture on the ube muffin, confetti cake, and blondies was grainy, and the brownies, while tasty, were essentially fudge.
The savory meals fared better, but the eggs didn't taste as much like the real thing, and the bread, while tasty, was a little under seasoned.

You must not be gluten free either? I find all gluten-free to be grainy and lacking. I think I’ve had some of the “best” gluten-free baked goods that you can get and they still are not that great to me. However, as far as gluten-free goes, they make some of the better gluten-free items I’ve had.

The lattes and food are beyond delicious. There is a fun assortment of bakery and desserts that - it's hard to choose what to get because of all of the great options and 100% vegan. I look very forward to returning.

Probably the best gf baked goods I’ve ever had. - Edit
MB has been working hard to get a storefront for years. Hopefully they get one soon (they now have a storefront!). I’m not even slightly into gf baked goods. They are never as good as gluten baked goods, but I’ve been very impressed with MB and their products. They are very good.

A Chicago gem! - Edit
During the warm months sitting outside on a tree lined street, sipping an iced mocha and sharing a white chocolate strawberry pie on a sunny afternoon. Is one of the best escapisms you can find in the city. Always so many options. All of them delicious! Can’t wait to go back for a waffle with soft serve.

Cute coffee shop, delicious pastries and great staff😄 - Edit
First time stopping by this bakery and it exceeded expectations! Our coffee drinks were delicious and so were the quiches. We got some carrot cake and pozole soup to go. Everything was delicious and the girl working today was super sweet and knowledgeable. Even if you’re only looking to pick up a quick coffee, I HIGHLY recommend this place! The drinks were 50 times better than anything you’ll get at the Starbucks down the street.

Saturday night feast! - Edit
I’m vegan and GF. So happy to visit vegan GF mindful baking cafe! Friends and I got cauliflower pasta soup and grilled cheese, 2 kinds of quiche, delicious breakfast sandwiches with egg and chorizo and cheese. Carrot cake, pumpkin pie and our fave desserts, Lemon raspberry donut and chocolate cupcake (looks like Hostess, tastes better!). All vegan and GF. Woot!

Too uneven - Edit
Have to update previous better review. Got 4 muffins at farmers market stand. Sweet was the dominant taste on all of them. Too much tapioca starch, so they were gummy. Two were gooey due to being underbaked. Overall, ate less than half of what I bought and it was expensive. Got a loaf of bread that was a complete brick. Tossed it in the trash. Too tough to even consider eating. Had two chocolate cookies as well. Tasty, but again, too much tapioca starCh made them unpleasantly gummy.
