A transformative experience... - Edit
Who knew that mixing curry with Udon, Kyoto style; would make for such a fun night. Two beers in and a double serving of noodles, Mimikou is the hearty meal you need, accompanied by a host whose warmer than the dish and a bathroom trip that transports you through time and space.
Read moreWhile my Udon was being prepared I excused myself from my current party in search of the washroom. Traveling to the back of the restaurant and out a small sliding door. I found myself in a locked complex, completely alone; a high contrast to the busy station and department stores which surround this eatery. Continuing forth to the adjacent side, my mind relaxed as each step echoed in the open space, the click of my heels sending me deeper into a tranquil state. When I arrived at my side quest the facilities were pristine, untouched by civilisation for minutes, hours, eons... Who's to say? Once the deed was done I returned to the small restaurant sliding door. As it slid ooen, the sound of metal pinged in the kitchen, an intoxicating aroma followed, which was then joined by the Hiroshima Carp's driving slugs on TV. The host greeted me back with a homely, knowing smile as I sat down a different man than when I left.

We had such a beautiful meal here that left our bellies and hearts full. The food was amazing. I had the garlic and vegetable udon which was superb while my daughter had their recommended tofu dish. Delicious food and excellent value at about 1250¥ per main. But what really made it for us was the beautiful owner who was so so lovely and even waved us off from the door at the end. She’s not on a main footfall area so I hope everyone on here goes to her to give her more business!

Two veggie options, I got the sweet tofu one - it was tasty but needed some veg. If you can, try ask for a side salad or some bean sprouts to add in.
