Was not expecting this

Braced myself to be eating second-rate side dishes as that was the offerings last time I visited town (a while ago, I admit). As a longshot, I set my filter to "vegan" and up pops Milo. Gee whiz, what a delight! Everything we ordered was nicely made, and the service was good. Nice little Cafe, will visit again.

Pros: Pretty decent food, Pleasant Cafe vibes and nice staff, Background music was cool and not loud

Cons: Nothing not to like

Amazing pancakes

We took the train to Maryborough for the day. The cafe was nice and bright and they had a menu with a number of options plus 3 specials and some things in the cabinet. It was a difficult choice.

My partner ordered the pancakes and I ordered the big brekky. I had a soy flat white. The staff were nice and our order came out quickly. I really liked the scrambled tofu and beans as part of the big brekky but it was all nice and a good sized serving. I tried the pancakes which was a generous serving with a huge serve of ice cream. The pancakes were light and fluffy. We both enjoyed our brunch. The coffee was nice too.

I got the milo bites (chocolate, peanut butter and Rice Bubbles) and a cinnamon scroll to have later. I liked them all but the cinnamon scroll was amazing.

They have some products to buy there as well. I really liked the cafe and would visit again.

I definitely think it is worth a visit. I chose from the menu rather than the cabinet.

Yes I would too @Kittybiscuit. I checked the menu I photographed when I was there and some of the stuff you had is definitely new since then.

Brilliant

We have been wanting to come here for quite a while and are very happy we finally have.
It’s fantastic. Nicely laid out cafe, friendly staff, good range of eating options and a well stocked merchandise area.
My husband had the big breakfast and it really is BIG. Everything in generous proportions. The scrambled tofu and beans were a highlight.
I had the roast veg and feta focaccia which was also tasty and good value.
Almond lates were hot and strong enough (not always either).
I enjoyed browsing the merchandise and purchased some nice gifts.
If you have a sweet tooth, the cakes and slices are totally amazing. So much choice.
We will definitely be back.
Well done Milo!

Pros: Fully vegan, Tasty and good value, Friendly staff

Cons: Nil.

No Milo so drank coffee instead

It’s always awesome to see a fully vegan cafe in a small regional town, so I really wanted to check this place out. We visited on the long weekend and I was surprised at how big the cafe was. There were only a couple of staff working so things were a bit slow. The menu is small and uncharacteristically I didn’t order the biggest things on it. (Generally I like to support a vegan cafe with a good spend.) We ordered the sausage roll with pasta salad and the tomato, cheese & pesto toastie. The salad was nice and tasty, but the sausage roll, while far from the worst I’ve had, was pretty average, a little dry and crumbly with not much flavour. The cheese toastie was fine, with decent melty cheese, but unremarkable. When we’d finished those I felt like I’d missed out a bit, so I pushed it and ordered a BLT. It was pretty good, better than what preceded it, but I was pretty stuffed afterwards. As mentioned in a previous review, I love that this place exists, but it doesn’t quite manage to move above just being just fine. It is without question though, the only valid place to go for lunch if you’re in Maryborough.

Pros: Completely vegan , Decent BLT, tasty pasta salad, melty cheese , Plenty of space and seating

Cons: Average sausage roll

hometown vegan

I had to do a double take when I saw an all-vegan listing for Maryborough on Happy Cow! I sampled a range of their menu items on a recent weekend trip to visit my parents.

Saturday lunchtime I tried the Morrocan nourish bowl on the specials board. This was a promising start: lentils, chickpeas, and whole grains, with warm spices, studded with currants, scattered with fresh parsley topped with a dollop of coconut yoghurt. I took away a pot of apple pie overnight oats with cinnamon and walnuts for breakfast the next morning. These looked yum but were a little lacking in flavour and texture.

Went back for Sunday lunch with my husband. I got the burrito this time. The plate was smeared with their "famous" cheesy sauce, which tasted sweet and not really cheesy at all, more like purreed potato and pumpkin. The burrito was satisfying with beans, tofu, and brown rice but unfortunately they weren't well seasoned or spiced. Not sure if I'd even call it a burrito, there was really no Mexican flavour to it. My husband played it safe and went for a toasty with tomato, house-made pesto, and Vegan Dairy mozzarella. Can't go wrong there, he really enjoyed it.

Their range of sweets looked great. I got a cinnamon scroll fresh out of the oven and still warm for breakfast on our last day in town. Definitely recommend them: gooey, sweet, and doughy. Coffee made with Alternative Dairy Co oat milk was also good.

Overall, I found Milo a bit hit and miss. I think deserts are a highlight. I'd like to try the orange and almond cake next time. The small menu doesn't offer many surprises, pretty standard vegan options you might find at any cafe in the city. But I'm very happy to support a vegan business in the country.

A gorgeous vegan Oasis!

An absolutely gorgeous vegan cafe (yes, 100% fully vegan!) in regional Victoria. I had the smashed avo & peas and my husband had the satay tofu buddha bowl - and we were both blown away with how well balanced, filling and delicious they were. Cute little shop too, so bought some snacks for the trip home. Very friendly staff. Absolutely worth making a trip out to and supporting ✌️

Well thought out

The layout, with lots of tables insides and interesting seating in the garden, and the menu, are thoughtfully chosen. Salads amazing. Friendly service. Maryborough has lots of cafes these days - but a fully vegan one is a standout.

Pros: Spaces, Salads, Menu overall

Cons: Not noticed any!

Delicious food and lovely staff

So wonderful that somewhere in Maryborough offers decent vegan options that don’t cost a fortune, don’t cause you to have anxiety because you’re not sure if they actually understand vegan food, and come with a smile and not a grimace. Will be eating here many times in the future. First time since I’ve moved to this town over 11 years ago I could get a vegan hot chocolate or chai latte.

Pros: 100% vegan

Cons: None
