wonderful food and caring people - Edit

We are from Portland Oregon, USA (the vegan capital), and we found this restaurant to have great food and caring staff/owners. They offer a wide variety of creative menu options. We were very pleased with the food, atmosphere and staff.

Best vegan options in Udaipur ! - Edit

It's the first restaurant in Udaipur who started to offer vegan and healthy options (and a few restaurants followed them).
We stayed 2 weeks in the city to volunteer at Animal aid (hospital and shelter for street animals) and we ate there at least 10 times !
Their vegan muesli (with coconut milk) is the best in town, their indian and western food is very fresh and tasty... The place is cosy, clean and perfect to chill. The owners and staff are very friendly and listen all your specific demands. They know what vegan means and seem to be more and more implicated in it. They are even thinking about making the place 100% vegan, and we encouraged them to do so!
Go there at any time, you will not regret it.
Not as cheap as what you can find in India, but still very affordable for western people (and really worth it).

delicious healthy food! - Edit

What a lovely find in udaipur.! These guys are really concerned with giving people healthy options. Everything is fresh, made from scratch. They make cashew cheese and homemade cookies, mostly organic and locally sourced. They have Rajasthani food as well as Indian twists to western food and other western options. I had the best banana date smoothie ever with homemade coconut milk! Love to support businesses like these

Pros: lots of vegan, gf options, open all day

Healthy but delicious food - Edit

A real gem in Hanuman Ghat, very close to the lake. The vegan pancakes are excellent, as is the Indian food. I very much enjoyed the sprouted bean salad, peanut stew and dhal fry. The food is healthier and less greasy than most other places in town. Most of the menu is vegan or can be made vegan on request.

They provide coconut milk for use in tea and coffee. Personally I prefer soya milk but this works fine.

Extremely friendly staff. They have a part-covered roof terrace and indoor seating.

Pros: Healthy and delicious food, Lots of vegan options, Friendly staff

Incredible, Delicious and Great Cooking Course! - Edit

A really lovely place with great vegan options and very warm and friendly staff! Definitely try the vegan peanut butter cookies made with millet- great for a snack on a long journey!
Highly recommend the dhal fry and you can ask for a lot of things to be made without animal products too :) Coconut milk is freshly made and delicious, as is their vegan Nutella (wish id had time to try their vegan pancakes!!)
My mum and I spent 2 hrs doing a cooking course with one of the very cheerful owners! You could choose 5 dishes to make which you eat after each bit of preparation and get the recipes emailed after!
Not only is the food tasty, but it is also promoting slow food with strong eco principles and organic wherever possible! Made our trip to Udaipur 10× better!

Pros: Friendly , Tasty, well made food, Lots of vegan choices

Cons: We couldn't try the pancakes

not worth what they charge - Edit

Expensive and disappointing. I had the cashew curry and had really high hopes but it was pretty bland and not worth their very high price. Would not go again. In a country where they are all about their amazing food this meal really stands out as a disappointment.

Cons: overrated, overpriced

Really good! - Edit

I was here with the same VegVoyages group as Sonja and Dirk (I am just slower with my reviews). We had this special vegan buffet and regarding the food I have nothing to ad. It was really good! And indeed, very friendly owners. I hope I can get back here some day.

Pros: good food, friendly people, cool interior and view

Cons: not all-vegan

Vegan pizza!!! - Edit

Great place! Their rooftop terrace is so nice and the food a welcome change from typical Indian fare. I had one of their millet pizzas. It’s different from Italian pizza, but very very good. And the best thing is that they have cashew cheese for it for their vegan guests! Also lots of other choices!

Pros: Excellent food, Relaxing location, Nice staff

Delicious - Edit

Our VegVoyages group had lunch on the top floor at Millets of Mewar. Lovely atmophere and even better food. We started with carrot ginger juice and pizza made with cashew milk cheese. Just delicious. The entrees were in a buffet for us and it was all so tasty. We ended with chocolate banana pancakes. If they were all vegan, they would get 5 cows from me. Definitely go if in Udaipur.

Pros: delicious pizza, lovely atmosphere, nice owners

Cons: not all vegan

YOU SAVED MY LIFE> and made me skinny too - Edit

thank you Millets of Mewar when we were filming the Bacholerette with Mallika Sherawat your food saved all of us. WE all eat healthy in USA and limit our "ghee" intake :) afraid of falling sick or not being able to digest the food we were unsure of what to eat. ON HAPPY COW we found Millets and the food became our everyday glory!! Millets you provided 3 meals a day each meal or day had a variety of different cuisine and flavor. AMAZING FOOD! breakfast sesame and puffed rice or amaranth porridge. vegetable idli and vegan thai food. one day we had korean food. each day was a delight to eat and enjoy our time in india. You are masters at creating a cuisine with using ingredients that are gluten free or dairy free. that helped our "western digestion " i wish that we could open a millets of mewar here in los angeles. it definitely would uplift the food here and broden the love of millets all across the globe. thank you millets of Mewar we love you! i think everyone who visits Udaipur should eat there and experience the food and the loving people that serve and prepare it!! thank you all xoxoo jeffrey Paul

Pros: healthy alternatives to asian cuisine , dairy free and gluten free, so much food you never go hungry

Cons: none

Vegan Sanctuary - Edit

This place is such a sanctuary! Indian food is typically oily and overcooked resulting in zero nutritional content. Millet's is exactly the opposite, fresh, delicious with a focus on health.

The winners at this restaurant are the bean salad (great mix of spice and lime mmmm), vegan pizza (wholemeal flour base and yummmmmmm topings) and the date shake.

The thai peanut curry was not "peanutie" enough as were the other curry's. We also had the carrot and coconut salad which had a great flavor but could have been improved with the addition of either nuts, spinach or other ingredients.

Despite my "little pickiness" I still think this is the best place to eat in Udaipur.

Pros: Healthy, Yummy, Friendly staff

Freshest in Udaipur - Edit

i ate here a few times on my stay, and enjoyed every dish i sampled. the vegetable wrap was my favorite, it tasted somewhat like a fajita. the banana date coconut milk shake was excellent as well. the dishes are small, but also not that pricey. and, everyone on staff knew what was vegan, and what could be made vegan. just ask!
the restaurant is easy to find, the review below gives good directions. also, millets of mewar had information on animal aid unlimited, a vegan run animal sanctuary on the outskirts of udaipur... http://www.animalaidunlimited.com/

Pros: fine quality, good taste, nice location

Cons: not all vegan

Great options for vegans - Edit

this great little restaurant is on the hannuman ghat side of the foot bridge just down the hill from dream heaven guesthouse. Good selection of vegan food options, including pancakes, curries, continental, snacks, coconut milk, deserts, etc... Prices are cheap. A meal will cost between 100-140 rupies. Also, the owners here are extremely friendly and love to talk. The food is also organic and they use much less oil than most restaurants which makes the food a bit healthier. you rcan also watch a movies of your choice. Good selection of bollywood and documentary films.

Pros: great selection of food on the menu, inexpensive, friendly staff

Cons: no view of the lake

AnoopMillets 09 Jan 2013 - Thank you for the review.. We are happy you liked the concept.
Just one clarification - the view is not restricted of the lake as the lake is big and curves to the right, thus, no building gives a 360 degree view of the lake except Lake Palace itself.
Rather the view from rooftop gives at an angle the view of City Palace, old temples and the lake with hills behind.

Still hope the food compensated for the view. Thanks!
