Best Vegan Food I’ve ever had!

The food at Mike’s Cafe and Wine Bar is amazing. I will definitely be coming back to this cafe every time I visit Friday Harbor. The service is very nice and the atmosphere is so cool and the pricing is very reasonable for what you are getting. Compared to the other restaurants on the island this one definitely is less expensive for even better food. When you come here make sure you sit in the back patio. I feel like it is hard to find a good vegan restaurant or sometimes even a vegan restaurant but to find one as good as here is a real treat. Thank you Mike’s Cafe and Wine Bar for making my vacation so much better.

Pros: Everything is vegan (and tasty), Beautiful outdoor back patio with a water feature, A good place to sit down and stay awhile

Great All Vegan Friday Harbor Option

Sometimes vegan food can be hard to find on vacation. Mike’s delivered the goods! We went twice, both times were great. Excellent Crabby Tacos on the first visit and Ginger Stir Fry on visit two. Also tried spring rolls and pulled pork. Both good.

Pros: All vegan, Creative and fresh, Totally racing!

Kept coming back

We are here everyday of our stay on the island. Tried something different every time. They never let us down. Their food is phenomenal and not oily or greasy. Lots to choose from and most of the options are not faux-meat. If you visit the island, eat here! It’s expensive but definitely worth it. Treat yourself!

Pros: All vegan, Not too oily, Everything is amazing

Cons: Expensive , I have to take a ferry to get here , I can’t eat it all

Peace to All Beings

We LOVE Mike's Wine Bar & Cafe! I wish they were more active on social media so we could pass the word along. It isn't often you come to a small island town and find a cafe that is all plant-based. Their tag is "Peace to All Beings" and I couldn't agree more. To top it off, the food is amazinggg, creative and diverse! This place is exactly what you are looking for, whether you know it or not!

Pros: All plant-based, great wine, tons of options

Cons: Opens at four during the week!

ALL VEGAN! Woooot!

Tons of variety, some Middle Eastern influence, and some American standards like Philly cheese, "chicken" noodle soup, and burger. We ate here two nights in a row. Yum!! Thanks, Mike!

PRETTY GOOD

I liked the place. Nice back patio. I wish they would have more GF options. If they would, I would give them 5 points.
Enjoy.

Amazing food!!!

Pizzas are Devine, the chick'n pesto sandwich was five stars awesome! The phish tacos were awesome!!
The staff is lovely and the owner took time to talk with my husband and I. We've had a very nice experience here on the island and a huge highlight was eating here at mikes cafe! I wish we had this Restaurant in our home town. It deserves the highest rating there is. Thank you Mike for creating such an incredible restaurant. "Peace to all beings" 💚

We disagreed

I liked the chicken pesto sandwich for the most part; my daughter didn't love her spinach spanakopita. Pretty pricey though.

Pros: house-made cheeses and dressings

Cons: Expensive

Date night Friday Harbor!

A beautiful wine bar serving salads, pizzas, wraps and sandwiches, and more elaborate pasta, lasagna, chik'n cacciatore, chik'n marsala dishes. Desserts include chocolate pie and seasonal selections. The owner is a winemaker and the grenache was top notch — delicious. A nice beer selection too including Samuel Smith's Chocolate Stout — yum!

Yes, you've arrived at a remote island paradise in the San Juans and, yes, there is a fabulous vegan wine bar here to welcome you. A vegan tourist to Washington should definitely go here. Great getaway for locals too.

amazing!

This place is amazing! It's has a great selection of vegan food, even your non veg friends would love. The owner also makes wine which they sell and it's tasty. They also have a really good beer selection. We came here for every meal while on the island because there were so many dishes we wanted to try. Thank you Mike and staff!

Amazing all-vegan treasure in Friday Harbor

The very best thing about this restaurant is that it's all vegan -- in food, in wine, and in philosophy.

Owner Mike Sharadin is also owner and winemaker of Northwest Totem Cellars, a small, family-owned winery producing hand-crafted wines in Woodinville, Washington. The wine list at Mike's Cafe & Wine Bar features a variety of local wines, available by the bottle, glass, or flight — but Mike had me at the Northwest Totem’s Sangiovese, which was delicious and happened to pair very well with the pizzas I was having. Beer lovers: there are lots of local beers on the menu as well.

As for the menu — I only wish I’d been able to try everything on it. If you stop in for a beer or a glass of wine, you might try the spiced bar nuts, pretzels with savory mustards, or truffle oil popcorn. Small plates include bruschetta, hummus, spanikopita, and a vegan charcuterie platter with mushroom pate, herbed tofu cheese, olives, and French country bread.

The larger plates include the most delicious vegan pizzas I’ve had. I tried the pesto and the supreme, both amazing: crisp, cheesy, wonderfully spiced, and somehow light and filling at the same time — in other words, just perfect. Other larger plates include a pesto “chicken” sandwich, pasta of the day, and a Szechwan Sizzle.

All this, and vegan cheesecake, too.

Great Food!

My husband and I had dinner at Mike's Wine Bar with 6 of our non-vegan friends. Everyone loved the food! The menu has expanded quite a bit since our first visit 2 years ago. I only wish we lived closer so that we could visit more often.

Pros: Great food, Great service, Great ambience

Cons: Reservations recommended for larger parties.

Best food in Friday Harbor

Mike's is fully vegan but not really advertised as such which helps bring in omnivores. Everything we tried was delicious - and we ate here 4 times during our stay in Friday Harbor. Our favorite was the Thai Peanut pizza, as well as the vegan cheese platter. The food is a little slow to come out of the kitchen but its worth the wait. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Can't wait to go back for another visit!

Pros: all vegan, friendly staff , creative menu with several options

Cons: slow kitchen (but worth waiting for)

All vegan menu for an omnivorous world

Our family has dined here several times and always enjoy coming here for the wonderful all vegan menu. The owner doesn't outwardly advertise as vegan, rather deliciously welcoming the omnivorous world. We like the burger and sandwiches, pizza, crabby cakes, Miyoko cheese plate, and a chocolate walnut torte. We will be back again soon!

Pros: Delicious all vegan menu, Great place to bring omnis to "try vegan food", Great location, a few blocks walk from the ferry

Double Charged

Unfortunately they double charged me. After several emails and calls, they have ignored me. Now I have to contest the charges with my credit card company. If you go here, pay cash. The food was okay, but definitely not worth $250!

Pros: Miyoko's Cheese Plate

Cons: Double Charged

I am very surprised. I apologize if you have been left in an abyss of customer service! As owner and the one who answers all emails and phone calls, this is the first time I have read this post and heard of your problem. I hope you accept my offer to email me directly and I will send you a gift certificate to retry our restaurant. If possible, please include the date you visited the last time (or as close as possible) so I can research the issue. Please include an email copy if you still have it and I will gladly follow up. Sincerely, Mike Sharadin at MikesCafeandWineBar@gmail.com

Excellent Vegan Food & Wine

My wife and I ate here a few months ago. It is really nice to have an all vegan restaurant in Friday Harbor! The food was very good and the wine tasting was great fun! The best part is that it's a small place where Mike, the owner and esteemed vegan wine maker, does everything but cook. A very personal touch!!

Pros: Involved Owner, Tasty Vegan Food, Wine!!
