So Good!

Great food. Lots of vegan options. Including bakery items. I had a delicious vegan brownie no one would ever known it was vegan. Also had lunch there twice last week. Blackbean burger a little too spicy for me. Their version of the Reuben was delicious. If you like pizza. Next door is their sister restaurant called Hearth Artisan Pizza.

Pros: Nice vibe, Great selection

Cons: Closes early though next door is open late.

Yummy!!

I had vegan huevos rancheros (they sub the egg for a tasty grilled BBQ and they have vegan sour cream!). My boyfriend had egret vegan burrito and he loved it too. They have non dairy options for coffee as well. I would definitely go back.

One of the best veg-friendly spots in anchorage

I go there semi-regularly. The Baja Bowl is great! And they have tons of vegan brunch (pancakes, breakfast burritos etc.) they’ve also got gluten free stuff if you’re into that too

Pros: Lots of vegan choices!, The best sport for vegan brunch in anchorage!!, Vegan desserts!

Great options and baked goods

The food here is delicious! Fun selection of vegan baked goods too, non-veg friends won't be able to tell the difference. It can get crowded around lunchtime because of its popularity so plan accordingly.

Hope for vegans in anchorage

If you ever find yourself in the predicament of being vegan in anchorage, this place is for you If you have any kind of sweet tooth, you will be able to find some baked good to enjoy. While not all the baked goods and sweets are vegan, they normally have quite a few options, including cupcakes, cake, cookies, muffins, brownies, banana breads and all kinds of other goodies that are vegan and a lot of gluten free as well. The food-food is good as well lol. The baja bowl is tasty with the vegan cheese and sour cream. I’ve also had the burger and reuben, both good, but i’ve had better. the vegan avocado melt is my new obsession, and you’ve gotta try the vegan chiquelilas (or however you spell it) when they’re available on special. the pre-packaged veggie spring rolls they have have lots avocado and so good too. They also have a good vegan breakfast selection, highly recommend the vegan huevos rancheros and the multigrain pancakes (you can have them add in vegan chocolate chips, and oh boy it’s delicious). they also have good coffee, but i’m more of a tea drinker and loovvve the london fog tea with soy milk, lovely touch of sweetness and lava see and vanilla

Pros: vegan sweets, vegan breakfast

Cons: close early (6pm)

Yummy pancakes

Came here for some vegan pancakes before our flight out and they didn't disappoint. Was packed on a Sunday and almost couldn't find a table. If pancakes are not your thing, they have plenty of other savory vegan options as well. Loved the lively vibe.

Pros: Vegan options, Great vibe

Yum!!!

I saw the good reviews on here and had also been told by family who live in the area that it’s great so decided to go while on a trip in Alaska. It was even better than expected! My husband and I got pancakes that were amazing. We got cupcakes to go that look delicious. Speaking of which, I was shocked at how many of their baked goods were vegan! I expected 1-3 items in the dessert case to be vegan, but probably about 50% or more was. There were at least 6-8 cupcake flavors alone that were! I liked it so much I’m hoping to go back while on this trip.

Pros: Lots of vegan options, Items clearly labeled vegan, Cute atmosphere

Cons: Not all vegan

Love the vegan options, we come here almost weekly. The salsa is excellent. The staff is always nice to my kiddos, which makes any dining experience better. They also sell and display the work of local artists :)

Pros: a lot of vegan options

Cons: coffee is just meh

Warm & Relaxing

A great coffee, smoothie, juice spot that always has local art on their colorful walls. They have a lot of seating, but get VERY BUSY! We've only waited a long time for food once and the manager took care of the situation perfectly. We love the vegan avocado melt, baja bowl, vegan burger and gf/v baked goods.

Their homemade salsa is the bomb too.

Vegan pancakes in Alaska?!

This place is so good I made sure to get there twice in my 4 day visit. I had the multigrain pancakes with fruit, and they were great. The next time I came I tried the vegan beet cake. It's very moist and chocolatey. Tasted nothing like beets, but that's not a bad thing!

Pros: Vegan pancakes and desserts!!

Cons: Really busy most of the time

Opens really early

I had an flight layover that gave me the grand privilege of sleeping in the airport. In the morning I was ready to be rewarded with some delicious food.

I took a cab to and from at a really early time in the morning. In fact, I arrived just a few minutes after they opened. I appreciated that they honored their business hours.

It was a comfy and spacious spot with lots and lots of options and labels to read.

I ordered food to eat there and a meal and some pastries to take with me.

They served organic coffee with organic sugar and non dairy milk.

Would definitely return again for more.

Great find in Anchorage

We went at 8am in a Saturday and all the locals were waiting outside the door. The place is large but within 30 minutes was mostly full. You order at the cashier. Food came out fast to the table. The huevos rancheros (tofu) and pancakes were excellent, with large portions. We took a couple bean burgers and muffins to go for lunch on the plane, which were also great.

Pros: Great, clearly marked vegan meals and baked goods

Cons: Meat also served

The staff is friendly and knowledgeable about veganizing other items besides their several vegan options. Traveling is SO MUCH easier with the Happy Cow!

Pros: Delicious food, Great coffee!, Their vegan Huevos Rancheros is inventive and trul

Cons: Short wait to secure a table , You order at the register before you have a seat..

Best Place to Eat in Anchorage!!!!

Sooooo good!!! I think there were about 7 vegan options on the menu including a great veggie sandwich, huevos rancheros, multigrain pancakes, etc. Also the best vegan cupcakes I have ever had! A couple vegan smoothies and some very delicious fresh juice also. I was in heaven! We were in Anchorage for 2 days and I ate there every meal and ordered 3 things to go when we left:) Very nice place to eat...I highly recommend! They close a little early (6 I think) so get in there before that:)

Pros: great vegan options, nice atmosphere, fresh juice!

Cons: close a tad early (6 I believe)

So Many Choices!

Interesting vegan and vegetarian options on a menu that regularly features specials and is changed to match the season. The staff is friendly, enthusiastic, and energetic. Likely to see students studying, professionals in a lunch meeting, vacationers dropping in, and young families eating right next to each other in this trendy, but tasteful spot. Middle Way has a great location in a busy, "progressively-oriented" shopping plaza including REI, Title Wave Books, Kaladi Bros. Coffee, and the Alaska Club gym.

Great Way to Start the Day

This was Ron's and mine first trip to the Middle Way Cafe in Anchorage and enjoyed the friendly and helpful staff. Ron dove into his order of Multigrain Pancakes & Fresh Fruit with Maple Syrup and didn't come up for air until it was all gone and said "these were good; I didn't think I would be able to eat it all". I thought he was going embarrass me and lick the plate!
I ordered the vegan Huevos Rancheros, it was OK but next time I think I will try something else. The Menu is interesting and the vegan selections are clearly marked. The staff helped in guiding me to the gluten-free dishes.
When traveling to Anchorage the Middle Way Cafe will be on our "must stop at" restaurants.

Pros: Good Menue, Friendly Staff, Fair Pricing

Cons: Vegan Huevos Rancheros

I love this place!

I stayed in Anchorage for four months and made a habit of having breakfast here at least once a week. The breakfast food here is amazing. It's also a few door down from a great used book store. The staff is friendly, there are always different art exhibits on the walls, and it's seems to be a popular spot for people off all walks of life. There is an obvious bohemian appeal but next to a table full of dread locks and tattoos you'll see white collar business people or laptops and college students as well as people of all ages. This place appeals to everyone and I don't know one who has left this cafe dissatisfied.

good food!

This place serves really good lunch food. My favorite is the avocado melt sandwich. Fresh, original, and always good quality. They have really good smoothies, too. They are a coffee place, too, though I don't drink coffee so I can't help there.

The major downfall is that they are only open in the middle of the day, during the week. Which means, I never got to eat here as much as I would have liked to.

Pros: excellent food, healthy and fresh, locally owned

Cons: limited hours, expensive
