Cheap, tasty & convenient - Edit
The buffet had a great selection of fake meats, tofu, and stir fried veggie dishes. Pile up your paper plate and get it weighed. Rice is serve yourself in the back of the canteen. Free soup too. Good price, great taste, friendly workers.

The front part of the shop looks very small, but once you passed the cash desk, there are enough sitting options.
Read moreThe buffet selection is quite good, many vegetables and meat substitutes are served. However, keep in mind that most of the dishes come either cold or lukewarm.
You also have the option to add rice to your plate, which you can grab in the back of the shop, including some soup.

Miao Yuan Vegetarian Restaurant does a buffet where they charge you by the weight.

Nominal charge for white or brown rice. Free simple soup usually had after the meal.
Sign is in Chinese. Location is near Taipei Central Station and a McDonald's.
Never knew culture shock could taste this good and be this nourishing.
Friendly staff showed basic human goodness goes beyond language barriers.

Decently sized buffet with lots of delicious dishes. Unclear which are vegan or not so hope you’re comfortable guessing. Worth a visit if you’re in the area and looking for a cheap meal!

One of my favorite Taipei vegetarian restaurant - Edit
I've been a loyal customer of this restaurant for more than 10 years. The food is simple, local buffet style, pay by your food weight. Always crowded when the lunch time, so you better go there before the lunch break at 12 am. Their fried mushroom is fantastic !
