No longer buffet, but still brilliant

As mentioned in other reviews, this place is no longer a buffet. They have an extensive menu offering both Chinese and western options. The restaurant is very relaxed and the staff super kind.

Very good and very friendly - but has changed

This restaurant is still here as of late April 2024, however it has changed its offerings. It is no longer a buffet, instead it now has a set menu. It has a number of Western and Eastern dishes, including Buddha bowls and mock meat burgers. As far as I am aware, it is still completely vegetarian - however, I cannot say if it is completely vegan.

Staff are very friendly and the interior is very clean. I came here with my mother when she visited Chengdu, they were so friendly and helpful, even gifting us a sweet mouse dessert dish. Staff are very attentive and the menu has English.

Pros: Prices are reasonable for the offering, Very accessible to Westerners, serve Western food, Very healthy

Cons: Sometimes don't have the mapo tofu

Had it’s best time, wouldn’t recommend

We had dinner here, but they had just 6 dishes and they weren’t very good or anything special. We were the only ones there (at 18:15). I had difficulty filling my plate, that might says enough. Cheap though and good location. But still wouldn’t recommend eating here.

Pros: Location , Cheap

Cons: Few options, Ambiance, Taste

don't reccomend

they currently offer 6 dishes plus rice for 20rmb. juices not included. 4 of these dishes have the same spicy seasoning, which wasn't good for me. all dishes can be found in random street food stores in chengdu. I don't reccomend making the trip to this restaurant, but if you are hungry and in this area, and if you like Chinese spicy food, maybe it's ok.

Inexpensive and nice food

They offer a buffet with 6 vegan plates and 2 soups. Tea and water also included in the price. The price of the buffet is 20RMB but they also offer dishes from a menu that are a little bit more expensive. The plates were simple but tasty and the place nice and clean. If you are around People's Park I would absolutely recommend

Cheap and okay food

The food itself isn’t the greatest, but for the price (¥20) it is good value. And just little bit less greasier what you usually get from restaurant. Nice atmosphere and there is restroom.

Great Value

All you can eat buffet for 20 Yuan. Not going to lie I didn't find anything outstanding. But it was all generally healthy. You go in, pay they give you a coin you take it to the next table. Where they give you a tray bowl spoon. I don't really know if there is any general direction to follow, nothing is labeled. Really good cold salads. Some of the dishes were spicy to my Dad, but I thought they were fine. I loved the rice milk. At the end of the meal you turn in your tray and they give you a coupon. Not my favorite restaurant but it beats being nervous about what your eating.

Open until 8.30 PM

Got there at 8.30 PM. People were still eating inside. So we went in and the employee allowed us to still have dinner. She told us to eat up quickly though. Paid 20 yuan per person for the buffet. There's a lot of food but most of it was almost gone and the temperature was only lukewarm. Not sure if it's always like that or bc it was after closing time. A lot of veggies, rice and soup. No fake meat as far as i saw.
The taste was okay but nothing special. Everything was veeery oily, maybe more than usual. You can take as much as you want.
I only give 2 stars 'cause we saw 2 cockroaches running around on the tables... :(

Pros: Vegan, cheap

Cons: Cockroaches, oily food

Ok food

Het eten vond ik niet erg smaakvol. Vooral gekookte groenten zonder kruiden. Er waren wel veel verschillende groenten. Je kunt opnieuw opscheppen.

Great first Chengdu food experience

I found this on Happy Cow and was pleasantly surprised by how all the reviews were soo positive. I agree with them all and the little family run restaurant is a great place to try a lot of veganized local dishes at an affordable price. You'll want to do some research on local foods before going if you care to know what you're eating (no signs or explanations). Everything was very tasty and I would recommend this restaurant.

Pros: Everything is vegan and very affordable

Simple but delicious

I came here slightly distressed after trying to find two other vegan restaurants in Chengdu with no luck. I was relieved with how simple and cheap this place was. I was in and out quick and better still the metro is a 2min walk away for a pain-free return to the airport afterwards 😊

Great! I went back 3 times

This place is great! I had four meals here during my holiday in Chengdu. It has an excellent range of mildly spicy and non-spicy vegan dishes including noodles, rice, mushrooms, tofu, many kinds of vegetables, soups, breads and drinks. Fill yourself up! Drinks include some kind of nut milk, served hot. The restaurant is located a short walk from the city centre and subway stations. It's popular with locals -- a good sign -- and has well-maintained bathrooms, which are always a bonus in China. Tip: if the main room is busy, take your tray upstairs: there is a second large room.

Pros: Great food, Inexpensive, Good bathrooms

Cons: Food could be served hotter, Only open certain hours, doesn't do breakfast

Great vegan buffet!

Really tasty vegan buffet 1 minute's walk from people's park subway station (人民公园地铁站). It is not as large as the other popular vegan buffet listed on this website (YuSuGe), but I think the dishes are much better. I have been to both twice in the last few days, and MiaoShuYuan's dishes are always hot and fresh tasting, and generally less oily than YuSuGe's but have a tastier flavour. Particularly great dishes are the mapo tofu, the spicy fried potatoes and the all the noodle dishes.

Just go in and pay 20rmb first, then you'll be handed a tray and can help yourself as many times as you like. Then at the end, take the tray to the table at the back, and you'll get handed a voucher for 2rmb off your next meal.

Pros: Cheap, Tasty, Totally vegan
