lunch menu not entirely vegan-friendly - Edit
for lunch, i ordered the vine leaves as my starter and the moussaka (which was the only vegan main option) as my main. the stuffed vine leaves were nice but extremely vinegary, and the moussaka managed to convert me as someone who usually doesn't like aubergine all too much. the chickpeas in it were delicious, too. but, for dessert, the only options were baklawa and rice pudding, both with dairy. coffee was offered instead (it's unclear if we would have been charged for this), but we declined and left without dessert, paying the full £19.95 each anyway. the owner was friendly and wandered between tables occasionally, making light jokes.

The food was excellent and we returned for a second night since it was so good. We just ordered a number of starters since they were so tasty.

Absolutely delicious food - Edit
I asked the restaurant to select a mixed cold mezze and some warm dishes for two people (this included some spicy potatoes and an aubergine dish). The fig hummus really is sensational and definitely worth a try. Everything else was delicious.

Wonderful vegan food, a must try! - Edit
Three of us had a late lunch here after touring the palace. Everything was delicious! The fig hummus is sensational! The salads, grape leaves, moutabal, mujadara, moussaka stew, bamieh, fool, falafel, lentil soup and roasted vegetables were lovely. We will be back and I cannot recommend this place highly enough. Nice quiet interior, great staff, reasonable prices. Would give 5 stars, but happycow won’t allow.
