Great options, poor service - Edit

This was my second time coming to Mexican Radio and had similar experiences both times. If you read Yelp or their FB page you'll see a lot of the same comments. The food was very good and so many vegan options and has outdoor seating and the ambiance and decorations were in point, but service was pretty bad. Both times I went it was new staff and no one knew what they were doing. Also sucks you have to pay for chips and was a little pricey. But definitely very good and would recommend. Want to try brunch next!

Pros: Ambiance, Outdoor seating, Decor

Cons: Expensive , Staff issues

great places with tons of options!! - Edit

Tons of vegetarian and vegan options. Wish Happy Cow would let me give this place 5 hearts because rut totally deserves it. Everything from the decor, to the service, to the food is fantastic. Veg tacos were incredibly fresh and the Mexican spring rolls were unique and delicious.

Mexican Delight for Everyone - Edit

I have been here a handful of times and the atmosphere is very embracing of the vegan lifestyle (they have their own VEGAN MENU, ask for it if they don't ask when you walk in). Even in the regular menu, the veggie and vegan options are clearly marked. Up front, I will say that this place can get a bit pricey, but the menu is somewhat more established and vegan friendly than I have seen in any other restaurant. Personally, I am willing to pay a little more to have a fancier meal, but I understand if the price deters a few would-be patrons. If you just want a burrito, by all means, go to Bombers down the street. But if you want appetizers and a hearty meal in a sit-down, more professional setting, Mexican Radio is your spot.

APPETIZERS - The Mexican Spring Rolls didn't quite wow me. It was really fresh and the flavors were good, I just didn't like the texture. I have had nachos loaded with vegan chili and vegan cheese that were out of this world. I like nachos, these were really good nachos.

MAIN - Mexican Radio has really delicious seitan. Like super delicious. It gives the enchiladas I ordered a truly 'meaty' bite. If you are sick of mushrooms that day or don't like them to begin with, try one of their enchiladas with seitan. I ordered the enchiladas mole with three different kinds of sauces and had two seitan and one mushroom filled ones.

Just like any other restaurant, they have a few salad options and are generally very accommodating to customization or "veganization." I wouldn't say this is the healthiest option that I have seen in Schenectady, but it is one of the more openly embracing of the sit-down restaurants in the area. I get excited as a vegan and a foodie to go to Mexican Radio.

Pros: Many Vegan Options, Separate Vegan Menu, Veggie Friendly Items Labelled

Cons: Pricey

The MOST Vegan Friendly Mexican Restaurant I've EVER Been To! - Edit

I was thrilled to find this restaurant while visiting family, nearby. And, this was probably the most vegan-friendly Mexican restaurant I've EVER been to! For a family of four, all vegan, traveling across the country, we most often find "lame eating." But, not here ...

We were offered a vegan/vegetarian menu when we walked in, and as the previous reviewer noted, there were MANY vegan options and substitutes including tofu, seitan, Daiya cheese, and soy crema. The vibe in the restaurant was warm and friendly, not too stuffy, not too busy, and everyone in our party was excited to order a variety of the restaurant's offerings (over the course of two meals). The starters we ordered were ALL delicious, and included the Mexican Spring Rolls, Radio Roll Ups, Chips Y Dos Salsas, and the Black Bean Butternut Squash Soup. (Probably, the biggest surprise we ordered were the Vegan Radio Roll Ups, so don't sleep on those!). We complimented the initial offerings with Tacos a Carbon, Flautas, Vegetable Seitan Fajitas, Vegetarian Chili, Vegan Chimichanga, Vegan Enchiladas, and a House Radio Salad -- all of which were large, filling, and delicious.

It is so rare that, as vegans, that we're able to eat things like hearty Mexican Enchiladas, Chimichangas, seitan fajitas and the like, while eating out. But, this rare treat was offered by Mexican Radio. The end result: This is the first place I will go out to eat next time I am in the area!

Pros: vegan/vegetarian menu with lots of options, delicious food, nice space

*Tons* of vegan options, great service! - Edit

Mexican Radio has a huge array of vegan and vegetarian options, all clearly marked. You can make most of their dishes vegan, and they have many vegan fillings (for burritos, tacos, etc) on offer, including vegan cheese and soy crema. The food was tasty and the service was good. This is a great option for vegans and vegetarians.

Pros: Excellent vegetarian/vegan food, Enormous selection of vegan food, Friendly service

Cons: A little pricey
