Great experience - Edit
September 2025 was my best vegan meal on Cape ever- the Mews is taking veganism seriously and has elevated its vegan offerings. Tonight I had fried enoki, artichoke cakes (the best I’ve ever had), and a miso-glazed cabbage wedge. So delicious and impressive, so much left for lunch tomorrow.

2025 update! - Edit
2025:
Read moreHad one of the best meals of my life last night. The new executive chef at The Mews, Zia Auch, is an artist. I'm vegan, and finding interesting, well executed meals on Cape is very difficult.
Not pictured is their homemade bread, soft and ample, served with roasted garlic confit hummus.
First picture is of their fried mushroom app. Battered and fried enoki mushrooms, gochujang sweet and sour, pickled radish. So amazing.
Next was a baby kale salad with marinated butter beans, sun-dried tomato, crispy chickpeas, pumpkin seeds, avocado, creamy pistachio dressing. Every bite was complex, full of textures and flavor.
My entree was a roasted miso cabbage wedge, butter bean pureé, spiced crispy chickpeas, wilted mustard greens, salsa verde. A little char on the cabbage was exquisite, nestled on top of a creamy bean puree.
Finished off with an espresso martini and three different fruit sorbet scoops. Simply outrageous.
Not only was the food out of this world, the view is incredible, and our server (Leslee) was the sweetest server. The friend I dined with is not vegan and she enjoyed her sausage and escarole soup and raved about her gnocchi bolonaise.
20/10 experience. Kudos to the whole restaurant staff. They are open all winter, be sure to get in to experience the best food on Cape. It's so refreshing to have a chef that knows how to create complex dishes with vegetables. No fake meats or cheeses, just fabulous combinations of real food.
(Old review)A great spot for some drinks, but their vegan options are uninspired. Their old menu used to feature an amazing vegan polenta veggie stack to die for, now it has a very basic vegan pasta dish. Im sure most all vegans can make a pasta dish that blows the one offered out of the water. Also, all salads come with cheese, you can have it removed but still pay a premium price.

A few good vegan options - Edit
A few vegan appetizers and entrées. A bit overpriced for what it is but appreciate the options. Was a bit oily at times, but the melted cabbage was great!

An excellent vegan entrée and extraordinary service - Edit
As several earlier reviewers noted, the vindaloo (roasted carrot, chick peas, zucchini in a spicy & tangy curry sauce, tomato chutney, grilled naan, side of basmati rice) is sublime. The not-quite-vegan-but-still-vegetarian naan was delicious and didn't trigger my intolerance of dairy fat. If you're vegan and are bored by repetition, their limited vegan offerings may deter repeat visits, but the place is so good that it's definitely worth the necessary bother of booking months in advance for at least one dining experience there. The service is as good as it gets. Their temporary "pop-up" location is just fine, with outdoor dining immediately adjacent to Commercial Street but in the quieter East End. Despite years of buildup by a friend who's a fan and my expected letdown after too-high expectations, I thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

Second time reviewing - Edit
His time I had the meatloaf, which I previously was informed was a non vegan loaf altogether. It is vegan, but the gravy is not, nor are the mashed potatoes. They very recently began making their rice without chicken stock and totally vegan, so I believe that is a safe option as a side as well as the steamed veggies. I was told they never use butter on their steamed veggies sides also. These are great updated from years prior. And there are, of course, still the pasta and vindaloo dishes. Waiting for them to put on the menu those decadent vegan desserts.

Clearly marked VG options - Edit
Tofu vindaloo - with chickpeas and assorted veggies (minus the non-vegan naan) - fantastic! A couple other vegan options - a pasta dish and some nice salads. VERY popular and nice restaurant with beautiful bay views.

Great Restaurant with few vegan options - Edit
Mews has a lot to offer to non-vegetarians. Unfortunately their vegan options are scarce and are the same ones year after year.
Read moreFor a restaurant of this caliber to avoid addressing the need for vegan and vegetarian appetizers and entrees is shortsighted.
It's one of Ptown's best restaurants with a great bar and atmosphere.
Pros: Great atmosphere , Great bar
Cons: Very few vegan options , Expensive

Vindaloo - Edit
Beautiful restaurant on the water. Staff is super friendly and accommodating. They were knowledgeable about veganism and were able to make modifications for me. Vindaloo with tofu was delicious and filling. Omni friends were happy with their meals as well. Nice option for a group.
