Decent food. - Edit
Honestly not the best Ethiopian in the area. It was just ok. Marathon across the street is slightly better imo.

Good value, good food - Edit
I’ve been to many Ethiopian restaurants before. Merkato is one of the better ones, but not quite the best. The food is tasty and the service friendly. There’s also a nice outdoor patio with lots of seating. I ordered sambusas to start. They were tasty, but one was a bit frozen in the middle. I then had the vegan platter as my main, which I shared with a friend. It was a good amount of food, but less than I was expecting. All the samplings on the platter were delicious. The whole meal worked out to about £20 each. Overall I was pretty happy with the restaurant.

Merkato - Edit
Wish I was able to taste the food, but the lady who seated us decided to have a social conversation with a friend and left us waiting to order for over 30 minutes. We walked out after not being served for so long. :(

Great atmosphere - Edit
Great atmosphere, decor and people, and I appreciated the vegan menu. Food was OK, although the options we had tasted quite similar. Friendly and helpful service, and very reasonably priced. Worth visiting for the experience.

Incredible food and a lovely vibe - Edit
I absolutely adore this restaurant! I’ve been coming here for years and it always hits the mark. It has real family vibes, they always make you feel so welcome, and they’re happy to explain the menu or recommend things.

The non vegans I’ve taken have also loved the non vegan food available.

Holiday dinner vibes - Edit
This was my first experience of a vegan "matrix menu" which was a pretty exciting start - made easy by just opting for the full combo. The red lentils were standout with a good chilli heat. The Shiro had a generous garlic quotient which was right up my street. They were smaller veg servings - although on an enormous injera - than the sharing selection at some other restaurants but still plenty for two. It's a comfy, informal vibe on the terrace, gently perfumed by Ethiopian incense. You don't feel like you're on Cally Road (for all its charms)!
