Went for the strawberry sandwich but they were sold out. Opted for egg sandwich which was simple but perfect.

After a long day of travelling and trying to find a good place to eat, Mercy was perfect. The food was brilliant, the staff were friendly and everyone made us feel welcome. We were so eager to eat we forgot to take pictures, as we like to when reviewing on here. Just shows how good it looked and it tasted just as good.

Read moreThe restaurant is completely vegan. The menu while not extensive ranged from sushi to egg sandwiches to curry! There was something for everyone at the table.
We had a curry which was very yummy and another dish which had rice with veggies, lettuce pkts sea weed paper which was very different and delicious. The miso soup had a nice flavour to it.
The vegan caramel banana cake was delicious too. The presentation was beautiful.

The restaurant is down the stairs from a little hotel next door. That egg sandwich is magical: I can’t believe it’s made with tofu and pumpkin (and most likely black salt). I also enjoyed the fried kurumafu, which had a nice mix of textures. The soup of the day was tomato, which reminded me of minestrone without the beans. Staff is adorable and very friendly to English speakers. Minimum one drink order per person during dinner hours. Milk tea is completely unsweetened, but you can add liquid sweetener to it if you like. They were out of the seasonal fruit sandwich, but I wasn’t too worried about that. Instead, I finished off my filling meal with a chocolate melon bread, which hit the spot. Restrooms and free wifi available.

You must try the egg sandwich here! I'm not usually one for 'fake' animal products but the sandwiches were delicious. They are a popular item in Japan so it was great to be able to try a vegan veraion. The staff told me they make the 'egg' with pumpkin and tofu.

Read moreCame first thing on opening at 8.30am as I had a bullet train to get.
The “egg” sandwich was legit so tasty and so much like egg- not the standard tofu n black salt kinda thing, but super delish!
I also got a strawberry sandwich which is filled with like a dairy tasting mock cream. A bit weird but tasty.
I also had a cinnamon n walnut bun which I asked for “to go” (to take on bullet train) which I thought she understood, but then came on a plate, which was fine, no biggie at all, except I was still hungry after the Sammie’s and cinnamon roll was all warm, so ate that too lol.
They only do black coffee I believe? Would’ve loved a soy flat white or latte!

Firstly, the staff were absolutely lovely - so friendly and perfectly spoken English. Food was very nice (especially the egg sandwich and fried 'chicken') and restaurant was clean and easy to find using the app. The only reason for not giving 5 stars was the price - £50/€60/$65 was a lot for the amount of food we got (2 drinks, 1 set menu, 2 'mains').

I had a lovely dinner here after a long day out in Nara. The staff are very friendly and the food was wonderful! I had the set meal which was good value if on the slightly pricy side, but the kurumafu and gimbap were delicious! There was a good amount of food though didn’t feel like it was too much. Would definitely come again next time I’m in town!

Everything tastes good, but aside from the egg sandwiches, nothing stood out as exceptional. The place itself is charming, with a lovely and peaceful atmosphere. The small setting adds a cozy touch, and everything looks beautiful. However, it is comparatively expensive for what you get.
