Open Mon 8:30am-5:00pm, 6:00pm-10:00pm, Wed-Thu 8:30am-5:00pm, 6:00pm-10:00pm, Fri 8:30am-10:00pm, Sat-Sun 8:30am-5:00pm, 6:00pm-10:00pm. Closed Mon, Tue & public holidays. Last order taken at 9:00 pm.

We highly recommend this restaurant. Our dinners and lunches, and the take out bento boxes, were all great. We had the Shoujin Sushi dinner course, and both the Lunch Plate and Lunch Deep-fired Kurumafu set. The service is very helpful. The place is decorated sparingly. There is an elevator that can take you up to exit through the inn upstairs, but entry back to the inn would likely be locked.

The food was out of this world. I’m from Denver Colorado in the US and we have great vegan options. This was better than most of them. I would eat here every week! We ordered egg salad sandwiches, miso soup, gimbap, chocolate cake and several to go items. Every item was tasty and fu of flavor.

I had the "egg" sandwiches, the melon bread and a croissant. The sandwiches and melon bread were amazing, the croissant not so much.
Read more"Factory" describes the place well, as it has an industrial feel to it. Not a place to stay and enjoy the vibe, but the food is worth it.

Today we visited Mercy and we tried the ‘grilled chirashi sushi course’.

We also ordered some food for take away so as to eat on the Shinkansen.

Incredible restaurant near Kyoto station. I had the sandwich sampler, which included the egg salad, tuna salad and potato salad sandwiches. The tuna and potato were good but the egg blew my mind. I can’t understand how they made the egg so realistic. I ordered another egg sandwich because it was so amazing. They have these egg salad sandwiches at all of the 7 Elevens (not vegan obviously) so it was really special that I could have a vegan version.

We went there for lunch: the gimbap was good; the fried kurumafu (a little bit like seitan) was very good, and also the fried cauliflower was super tasty.

Great are also there opening hours!
They have breakfast, lunch and dinner menus, also a large take-out-menu.
The restaurant is located in the “basement” of a hotel. Only accessible via stairs.

I ate here twice, and both times, I was overwhelmed by how good everything tasted. The egg sandwich, in particular, was incredibly delicious - the filling didn't taste exactly like an egg; it was much better and more satisfying than anything that was ever made with an egg. If you don't think this food is delicious, you might want to think about detoxing your tastebuds somehow. I wish the servers were a little friendlier to those of us who love the Japanese language, have spent most of our lives studying it, and are in Japan to hear and to speak it, but the food tastes so good that it makes up for all that. I hope to eat here again the next time I'm in Kyoto.

Mercy vegan factory is around 10-15 minutes walk from Kyoto station. The service was amazing, the lady who worked there speaks English and was really welcoming. They have an English menu with a wide selection of food, drinks and desserts as well. They can do take away as well including bento boxes (from 10:30) but pastries, sweets and sandwiches can be from opening.

Noticed this place was close to where I’m staying and it’s fully vegan. So I took the little extra walk to go to it. By did it not disappoint. It was super easy to find with plenty of of signage plus the signs lead you down the stairs. Its very well light so you can see going down and feels very welcoming.

Food wise, I started with the half egg sandwich. I’ve been always wanting to try an egg sandwich like you see from anime. It was perfect, not sure what they used but it even tasted like eggs from when I used to eat normal eggs. It has lettuce on the inside so it doesn’t make the bread soggy.
Next I got Kim pop, I wanted sure what to expect but seemed alright.
Last was the chocolate cake. Rich in chocolate with some fruit and vegan whip cream. OMGosh was that good. Loved it all.
I also got an apple juice.

This was my partners favourite restaurant in Kyoto. We loved that the meal came with salad, which can be hard to find in Japanese restaurants! We enjoyed their sushi set meal and a nice dessert. Would have eaten there again if our hotel was closer!

My partner (non-vegan) and I (vegan) both got the Grilled Chirashi Sushi course. We both enjoyed making up the sushi rolls which came deconstructed. For healthy food this is a great spot.

If you get down on Tokyo Station and need a good place, this ine is about 10-15 minutes away. They serve at tables but also make bentos.
