Not Vegan Friendly - Edit
With the exception of alternative milks for drinks, this is not a vegan friendly cafe. Previous reviews mention vegan butter but I was informed that they do not have vegan butter or bread.

Beautiful Gem! - Edit
Merci Montecito is a beautiful space in the Country Mart just across the walkway from Vons. It's light colors and clean lines are welcoming and soothing. It definitely evokes the feeling of a Parisian cafe. The seed bread toast with vegan butter and homemade jam is divine, there is always at least one vegan cookie or pastry, and what I also love is that there is no penalty fee for sustainable and cruelty-free plant milk for their delicious coffee drinks! You can pick up picnic fare for the nearby beach or dinner to go, again vegan options available!
