Incorrect order (given dairy as a vegan) - Edit
I ordered a pizza with no cheese (they have one vegan cheese, but I'm not a huge fan of the brand they carry), tempeh, and some veg. However, the pizza arrived covered in dairy cheese, which was annoying as I thought I'd communicated very clearly to our server. I was then told that the tempeh wasn't vegan anyway, as they cook it in butter, which is really frustrating given that it's the only non-meat protein option (I'm glad I was informed of this eventually - by the manager, not our server - but it's a shame we weren't told this before, as I feel very guilty about two animal products - the cheese and butter - being wasted on my order. Maybe I was being too presumptuous that the tempeh was vegan, but they need to improve their menu labelling regardless). We'd already waited a while for the pizzas to come, so I didn't re-order. I had a slice of my husband's pizza (plain with vegan cheese), which wasn't bad.

Mellow spot, Exciting food - Edit
I had my second vegan calzone here and it was INCREDIBLE. The tofu blends extremely well with the cheese for a unique and tasty consistency, can’t recommend it enough!

We had lunch at Mellow Mushroom with omni family. It was our first trip to one. We had the Tempeh Hoagie. Our omni family had the Avocado Hoagie and the Holy Shitake Pie, both of which could be made vegan. Everyone really liked their meal. We’ll definitely return to Mellow Mushroom during our travels.

Vegetarian/Dairy-Free Pizza - Edit
Since going Dairy-Free I think it had been at least a year since we had pizza. While visiting Birmingham last spring we decided to try Mellow Mushroom. We ordered online and had it delivered to our hotel. They have a vegetarian pizza, vegan cheese, and also have an option for no butter or Parmesan on the crust. This made it easy to get a dairy-free pizza! Since most the meat options are inflammatory foods, I stuck with the veggie toppings on the vegetarian pizza. My husband had a meat pizza but we were able to do the vegan cheese and no butter/Parmesan crust on his too. The pizza is a bit pricy but was delicious and well worth it!

What a wonderful restaurant. Anna was my server, and she was so happy to bring me my vegan pizza. After 2 o’clock, they only serve whole pizzas. Before 2 PM, they will serve just individual slices. I enjoyed my vegan pizza so much. I had one on the menu. I’ve always heard how great they are serving Vegan food, and I was so impressed.

We get pizza here all the time. My favorite is the Thai Dye Pizza with tofu. They offer vegan Daiya cheese and Gluten-Free crust. If ordering regular crust for pizza/calzone, be sure to specify no parmesan and butter to make vegan. They get confused if you just say "no dairy." The staff is always really friendly and they have an awesome beer selection. Generally plays 90's alternative rock, which is my era.

One of the pizza makers in the back is Vegan and makes sure that your plate is animal product free!
