Delicious Birthday Lunch

Fabio and his family took me to Megan’s for a little birthday lunch. We ordered the vegan brunch and the open plant based Lamb kebab. It was a lovely meal! I definitely think this was one of my favourite kebabs ever! So flavoursome! They had a couple of vegan options that all sounded great! The decor was pretty, loved the hanging evil eyes!

Hit and miss

I’ve been here a few times and always find it very hit and miss with food and service. When it’s good it’s good and when it’s not great it’s disappointing.

Pros: Plant based meat alternatives , Dog friendly

Cons: Service can be slow

Vegan Brunch

I has a tasty vegan brunch with a side of hash browns. The food was well presented and tasted great, and I felt full most of the day.Its a very relaxed atmosphere, and being able to bring your dog in as well is a plus (great dog beds by the way). Also have to mention the toilets, clean and very retro !

Pros: Plenty to choose from, Dog Friendly , Nice Surroundings

Tasty vegan food, dog and family friendly

Went with a mixed group, 3 vegan, 2 non-vegan but one dairy free. Went for Sunday brunch. Booking online was nice and straightforward. I love how dog friendly they are with a water bowl brought to the table along with what appeared to be homemade dog treats. My daughter was also given some colouring and crayons. She got the children's vegan pancake stack which was small compared to some other places but she enjoyed them, and they came with a free drink. I had the vegan pancake stack which I didn't think looked the most attractive but was actually really tasty, especially the chia seed yogurt and the portion was more filling than I expected. My husband got the vegan breakfast, he said it could have really done with something like a hash brown or vegan sausage included but overall was tasty. Presentation was nice and service was pretty good.
I probably would give 3.5 stars if possible, I couldn't see if there was an accessible toilet and the others were all upstairs which is never ideal, but I'd go back and was pretty pleased with my first visit

Pros: Dog and family friendly , Unusual vegan options

Cons: On the expensive side considering portion size

Midweek lunch

Nice looking place with lots of vegan options, was the only vegan in my group so everyone was happy. Service could have been better but nice to have choice. I had the Buddha bowl, was seasoned well and a nice mix of food, probably too much kale (and I like kale). Syrup doughnuts very nice!

Pros: Lots of vegan options , Nice decor

Cons: Quite pricey for portion size , Service slow

Good food, service slow

Went here with a big group of work colleagues. They had a good amount of vegan options on the menu except for desserts. Had to wait a long time for my drink as they forgot it and the courses came out very slowly. Got the vegan lamb kebab which was good and well flavoured although probably needed a bit more houmous to make it less dry. Got the syrup soaked doughnuts to take away which were nice. Quite pricey for what you get.

Megan's at The Old Bell in St Albans

Discovered this lovely restaurant in St Alban's today. We received a warm welcome and there were lots of vegan dishes to choose from (pancakes, vegan brunch, scrambled tofu, salads, juices, smoothies, Buddha bowl). The staff were all lovely and the atmosphere was really cosy. Would highly recommended and we will definitely be returning!

Pros: Lots of healthy vegan options, Gluten free bread available , Fresh and tasty ingredients

Cons: A lot of the vegan options were quite spicy
