WOW! Was I surprised when our orders were served. I thought that with the small prices we would be getting small portions. Not the case at all. So much food we had to do some take away.
Stir-fried pumpkin yellow curry 59b – big bowl of yummy goodness
Tom Kha Kai Coconut soup with mock chicken 59b – wonderful flavor!
Stir-fried chicken and duck with basil 59b once again big serving enjoyed the underlying flavor but too salty for me
Golden crispy fried pork 69b – 2 thick, battered patties of delicious!
Looking forward to trying some more dishes there in the future.
For more dishes see the posted photos of the menu.

Satisfied customer - Edit
Open air no frills all vegetarian restaurant run by friendly Thai family who used to manage Five Star Jay.
Extensive menu. Very reasonable prices and good quality food.
Others have questioned cleanliness - I think this very much depends on what you are used to. To us this seemed as good as most open air Thai restaurants
Pros: Friendly service, Good choice, Tasty food
Cons: Location

Cheap oils and lots of MSG - Edit
Its a cheap place with very cheap food, same is the quality. Use a lot of MSG and sugar. Not really clean, included the staff. Even the fried rice was tasting for cheap palm oil. I had stomach problems for two days. Only to recommend if you need food and don´t have money.
Pros: cheap, cheap
Cons: MSG, lot of sugar

Great value and choice - Edit
First time I have been to this place since it was opened by the ex-owners of Five Star.
Lots of the menu looks familiar from those days but the prices are roughly 50% cheaper than the new Five Star Restaurant and it tastes just as good.
Lots of flavours, lots of choices, also a cheap daily hot plate section.
Service is friendly.
Only issue is the location - any savings one makes on cost are spent on taxis to and from the place. It's only really worth it to travel out here if you have your own transport or you stay on Sukhumvit.
Pros: Cheap, Great selection of dishes, Friendly
Cons: Location

Great Vegetarian Food & Very Good Value - Edit
I go to Mea Nuu Vegetarian nearly every weekday for lunch & often I get a takeaway too which I bring home for dinner. My favorite dish, which I eat exclusively everyday can be found on the menu, which is Indian Vegetarian Curry and I get brown rice with it. You get a very good portion which consists of a mix of at least 6-7 different vegetables such as green pepper, cauliflower, broccoli, tomato, red pepper, corn and potato in a lovely not too spicy Indian flavored sauce. Vegetables are cooked just right, and served nice and crunchy. I prefer this as I am not really into the soya based foods, and the curry is raw fresh vegetables, cooked fresh there and then. The price is brown rice is just 70 Baht.
Sometimes, I order Spring Roll(30 Baht) with this, which is a huge generous portion. Spring Roll with the Indian Veg Curry & brown rice leaves one very full.
This is a great little restaurant, free WIFI, and free water. Lots of regular customers both Thai & Western.
Now this is a Thai style restaurant, and since I am living 10 years in Thailand, I am very used to semi open air Thai restaurants. It might not suit a western newbie who is new to Thailand, who is not used to Thai culture and still needs western style comforts.
As I said, I enjoy the food so much here, I often have it twice in the one day. It is only 5 minutes from my day job, and 7 minutes from my home.
It is run by a very nice friendly, smiling Thai family, who recently have added a juice bar for fresh vegetable, fruit juice and shakes.
I highly recommend it!
Pros: Excellent Food, Fantastic Indian Vegetable Curry, Excellent Price

THE Place, for whom? - Edit
After my not so good experience with Saras I decided to visit the Mea Nuu because of the review of Sevin.
The place is not really nice, very low Thai style, the food particular already prepared and waiting in buffet pots. Nonetheless I waited for the fried rice with pineapple; however it was served out of one of the pots, more than 30 minutes. Served by a unwashed, bearded, elder man with dirty fingers the food was like the first impression. Very oily topped with something tasting like old rubber soles. The portion was very big, because of the oil I ate only a little bit.
The green curry with vegetables, chicken and fish balls. (Bold combination chicken and fish) was extreme spicy, for me not eatable. I decided to try a third dish, and ordered the spinach pizza. Tasting like a cake the base was made of someting like chewing gum, the topping not to identify, for 220 THB inacceptable. I left the place rather hungry and had stomach problems the whole evening, I think because of the oil.
Most of the dishes cost 60 to 80 THB, the food is like that. Surely not fresh, very spicy to cover that and very oily. Somehow like a canteen with old oil. Friends told me, it´s a place for Thai people who are used to this quality and so called “cheap-charlies” for whom it´s only important to get fed at a low price. [edit by staff - see ToS]
Pros: none, none, none
Cons: vegetarian behind some dishes, means the others, are not vegetarian?

THIS IS THE PLACE! - Edit
Finally Pattaya once again has a service and value oriented vegetarian restaurant with authentic and delicious veg Thai food. Before the ownership change of the old 5-Star J, that was "THEE" place. Now the family that sadly sold that venue has relocated and opened Mea Nuu and I am ecstatic!
Finally I feel comfortable and at home again with the friendly faces and wonderful food I knew so well from the old 5-Star! Just as before...the menu is extensive, the food is delicious, the staff is friendly and gracious and all this for half the price of the competition!
For an authentic, delicious, comfortable, AFFORDABLE, true Thai meal...THIS IS THE ONLY PLACE! AROY MAHK!
Pros: *****Great home cooked food*****, *****Great staff*****, *****Great value*****
Cons: none, None, NONE

For those who like it dirty - Edit
On my visit in pattaya I came to this place because of no. 1 rating in happy cow.
The food was usual Thai style vegetarian. Cheap and not really bad. But I think they have only two different tastes for all the dishes, somehow there was no difference.
The plates were not really clean, looked as only wiped out, the very noisy staff ran around with dirty fingers and fingernails and smelling very strong I could taste it with the food. The tables were not really clean, in summary recommendable for, those who like lower Thai style. For me nothing I would repeat.
rong
Pros: Cheap, Direct on the street, Many dishes
Cons: Dirty staff and tables, Not tasty, Noisy traffic, open restaurant

Sevin 25 Jan 2015 - You must be a troll with an agenda because none of your review is accurate. I eat here about 10 times a month and know from experience your claims are false. Shame on you for posting such blatant BS
