Comfort Food

While Alaska has not historically been a great place for vegans to eat out, there have been huge strides in the last 5-7 years. We ate breakfast at Denali Creekside twice. The service was friendly, the space was comfortable, the food was delicious, and the portions were generous. Our group was omnivore, vegetarian, and vegan. The only fully vegan items were home fries and oatmeal that you could load up with nuts and fruits, and they had plant based milk.

More vegan choices would be nice, but you could say that about nearly every restaurant in AK. I am excited that most restaurants now offer one vegan choice. It's a start!!

Best vegan options in the area around the Denali Park entrance.

This restaurant is in a lovely and convenient spot on the park highway, roughly 8 miles south of the park entrance. It has a small dine-in area and a nice dining patio.

I was there for dinner and had the vegan version of the Thai lettuce wraps. Excellent! Highly recommended; and the Beet Veggie burger (w/o aioli) which was nice, but less stellar (burger had a pasty texture lacked flavor). Still, the quality of the food and experience were excellent and in an area with very limited vegan options.

And even though this is also a cafe/bakery, none of the scrumptious-looking baked goods were vegan.

Pros: Nice dining experience, Superior food, Great location

Cons: Limited vegan options
