Best Local Vegan Food

The best made-from-scratch vegan food truck Milwaukee has to offer, made by the kindest people. Unique and delicious every time. They now have established regular hours at one of my favorite local bars, so I have even more of an excuse to patronize them!

Best in MKE

Always always always amazing, probably my favorite food place ever. Easily best vegan food in the city. The owners' passion for food is unmatched. If they're open when you're here, GO!!! Updated weekly hours/location are on their instagram and website.

Pros: Food always hits, Rotating menu, Cool owners

Scratch made vegan excellence!

These folks know how to COOK!! Their menu changes relatively often, so it’s a great excuse to go back for more. And more. And more! Their lumpia is one of my favorites. Their sandwiches are incredible. The tamales can’t be beat. Everything is outstanding, and they are two of the most delightful humans I’ve had the pleasure of knowing!

Pros: 100% vegan, Scratch made, So fresh!

Probably the best vegan food in MKE. Full stop.

I feel this is what most vegan restaurants in Milwaukee want to be but can’t.

Pros: Amazing food, Awesome staff, Ethical through and through

Honest from-scratch food

This place screams with heart. Ever-changing menu. Really flavorful, honest food. They don't have an official storefront, so during the pandemic I've placed my order online (check their Instagram for the link) and pick it up curb-side outside of their kitchen in the Cooperage/Boone & Crocket building. The Filipino/Puerto Rican/Mexican dishes are a refreshing shake up from the typical things you see on vegan menus. Try the lumpia (I think it's always on the menu)!

Pros: From scratch cooking, Interesting menu, Queer, POC-owned

best vegan food in Milwaukee

I can't say enough good things about Maya Ophelia's, our local traveling vegan kitchen. Their food is multi-faceted, flavor-packed, nuanced, and totally unique - IMO, it's the best vegan food in Milwaukee. They make nearly everything from complete scratch - yeah, they buy buns for their sandwiches, but you'll never find a Veganaise-and-Daiya-centric mac and 'cheese' here, and they definitely don't lift recipes from the internet to pass off as their own creations.

Every dish is crafted thoughtfully and cooked with love. After 15 years of veganism I thought I'd eaten it all, but MO's isn't like any food I've ever had before, anywhere, and I've happily trekked all over the city to get it. Milwaukee is lucky as heck to have them. Look them up to see where they're cooking/serving this week, you won't regret it!

Pros: extremely flavorful and unique dishes, allergen-friendly; always clearly labeled, QTPOC-owned tiny local business 💕

Cons: I can't eat MO's for every meal ;(
