Cheap and tasty

Note: it can be tricky to find this place as there is a food court upstairs and downstairs. This one is on the bottom floor.

I had a snack set which comprised of clear spring rolls, fried tofu cubes, basil/tofu cubes and one other thing. It ended up being 2 plates for a price of only 80 baht. Tasted decent but tofu was a bit watery.

They also had vegan waffles which I didn't try. Unfortunately sold out of the burgers which I originally came for.

Update: tried the waffles and the burger.

Waffles 4/10 - a bit bland and the chocolate sauce was like pudding. Had chunks of pumpkin in the waffle (not to my liking). Missing salt.

Burger 5/10 - nice and cheap at 35 baht and better than some other, more expensive, burgers I've tried but it does have a sweet taste which I didn't particularly like (maybe a sweet chili sauce or something in the deep fried batter).

Large portions, cheap + delicious food

If you’re in the area, give this place a try! I was skeptical at first as I am of all street-food-esque eateries but my partner and I have been eating here almost every day for the past 3 weeks. I genuinely believe vegan food should be affordable and this place really goes above and beyond. I have a soy allergy and amongst other veggies, I have the mushroom balls, the jackfruit curry, and the veggie burger. They sometimes have vegan waffles that are to die for.

Cons: None :)

Cheap yummy eats

Lots of choice available at very cheap prices (30-40~ baht for a meal). They’re very nice, speak decent English and the food is tasty. I recommend the Chinese sticky rice in banana leaf as a nice savoury snack (35 baht). They do microwave the food for you but still good. Beware the spicy chilli oil - maybe taste a little first.

Pros: All vegan and lots to choose from, Cheap, Convenient

Cons: May not find seat - in food court

Great place for a cheap meal in the mall, but food is never hot!

I’ve been to Im Jay multiple times and the staff are always so friendly, food is cheap and nice but not amazing nor ever fresh or hot. They’ll heat plates of food up for you in the microwave but even so, food is hardly warm so ask them to nuke it longer.

One of the best things they sell are the steamed noodle rolls though - definitely give them a go! They also sometimes sell fun things - the other day I had a pumpkin and raisin waffle with chocolate sauce (35 baht) which was SO yum, I got it takeaway and heated it up at home though.

My go to place for a local Vegan meal!

Brown rice & 3 buffet choices for 50 baht. They also serve sweet potatoes, spring rolls, veggie burgers, and some fried products, all very clean tasting & healthly. Smile & Ming have become my good friends & they are always so engaging with customers. They microwave your dish so your not left with a cold plate of food.

This is the place i go to more than any other.. delicious, cheap & instant!

Pros: Vegan, extras, local produce sich as dates etc

Great food, great prices :)

This is a great place with very good prices. We order from here on Food Panda quite regularly and have been there several times.
I love their fresh spring rolls, tofu, potato massaman curry and little sweet potato burgers are the best! (although you can't order the burgers on food panda which is a shame).

Amazing vegan dishes at an even more amazing prices

On our second visit to Maya Mall finally visited the basement and found this gem. Very busy during lunch hours not only in the food court but this store as well.

The ladies are super efficient and are quickly filling in the orders.

Had a White Radish Cake and a Garlic Chive Cake. Both are fairly decent and has not much flavour to it. Add some soy sauce or some hot sauce and it is perfect. Also had a mixed veggie cake and was similar.

The Deep Fried Tofu was delicious and a bit greasy though. But so soft in side and and some good tofu skin on the outside. The spicy Northern Sausages were the best. Really spicy and flavourful. We should just have multiple sausages. The veggie spring rolls were so good. They cut the rolls in multi pieces and drowned in some light soy sauce. Yum.

The mushroom balls and the shredded mushrooms- OMG. The shredded will remain with me for a long time. One of the best vegan meals I have ever had.

And the prices were so reasonable. I wish I could live close by so that I can go everyday.

Pros: Amazing dishes, Amazing Prices

Cons: Limited English knowledge of the staff

Just Ok Food

I've been there twice, both times the food tasted just ok. For me personally they are using too much dark soy sauce in many of the dishes, the licorice taste is just so dominant. besides that there is not much flavour. The saff is very nice though and I like the great variety of dishes, but there are better (more authentic) and cheaper jay places in Chiang Mai.

Pros: Many options, Nice staff, Fast

Cons: Not much taste, Dark soy sauce dominates

Sporadic opening

I've been here three times on various days and times of the week and am yet to find it open. Unless you happen to be in the vicinity, I wouldn't trudge out here, as it seems they only open when they feel like it.

Cons: Never open

Average

Clean, good selection and relatively inexpensive, although more expensive than the Thai vegan (jae) shops located in the city. Since most of their customers are mainland Chinese or western, the food is toned down a lot in terms of seasoning and spiciness, as some of the other reviewers here have noted. Some of the dishes are downright bland. Many of their offerings are geared towards foreign palates and are not Thai at all, such as fried mock pork burgers. I tried a bean curry, which of course is not Thai, and it was nearly tasteless.

If you want to eat in, there is a small crowded space with long benches that is shared with other vendors. It gets quite busy and there is not always a seat available.

Nicest staff in the world

Great food choice, mostly vegan. We ate here nearly every day we stayed in Chiang Mai because it was so convenient. Be careful if you order Khao soi because it comes with crispy fried egg noodles - just let them know you’re vegan! The staff are honestly some of the friendliest people we’ve met on our travels, so kind and polite and always up for a chat.

Good options for under 100 baht. They cook with olive oil and have brown rice. Some options not cooked with oil at all.

Delicious food, amazing value

Lots of choices and you can get any two items plus rice for 60B. The portion is big enough for a large lunch for one or a smaller meal for two to share. The lady who served us was very polite, helpful and spoke some English. Will definitely be returning.

Pros: Very affordable, Decent sized portions, Really tasty food

Delicious, inexpensive food and super friendly staff! (speaks english)

They have a variety of prepared food which you can choose from but you can order warm dishes (e.g. curries, soup...) as well.
If you want you can add a good selection of mock meat or fried tofu (got a whole block of tofu for 25 baht).

I came her two times and everything I had was delish!

Pros: Friendly staff, Yummy food, Cheap

Vegan food in the mall!

This veg (almost vegan) food stall is very convenient if you're shopping at the Maya Mall. It's specialized in faux-meat (sausages) and also offers traditional thai dishes. I took their sausages and skewers and their burger. The burger was good (but not exceptional) and the sausages were very good. They are homemade and have great texture and flavor. Prices are fair and the staff is very friendly. A good find in this area of Chiang Mai!

Pros: good faux-meat, cheap, convenient, friendly staff

Cons: not 100% vegan?
