Great food and prices!

Had the Pad Thai and Pancake with Fruit for dessert, can easily just ask for things to be made without egg. Both really fresh, Pad Thai tasted amazing, and the pancake was very ‘cakey’ (in a delicious way). Highly recommend!

Enjoyed!

We stumbled on this place and thoroughly enjoyed it. Amazing prices. Only thing was the heat and humidity as it is open air seating. They do have fans and try their best to make the space comfortable.

Still so good!

We just had to have a meal at May Kaidee because well, it is somewhat iconic!
The menu is large and while it is a vegetarian restaurant, there are many vegan choices.
My husband had the vegetable rice and the fried tofu while I had the green curry. For dessert, we shared mango sticky rice.
All the food was delicious and the curry was full of flavour!

The staff were friendly, and the space is really nice. It is an open restaurant with a corrugated iron roof and fans, so it is a bit hot, though.

Pros: Iconic restaurant from back in the day, Delicious food, Many vegan options

Cons: A bit hot

Good Food

Enjoyed our meal here. I got pad see ew, sister tried pad thai, and friend went for the pineapple fried rice. Food was good. For drinks we got the fresh coconut, hibiscus tea, and lemongrass tea. They were all great.
FYI, this is an open-air restaurant, so there is no AC. This was my first experience with that in Thailand, so I was surprised.

Pros: Affordable

Cons: Open air restaurant, so no AC

Original

First came here when I was younger in 2001. Everytime I'm in Bangkok I always make sure I visit this restaurant. One of not many of the originals left in this area.
I remember May too and met the French guy who set up the restaurant with her.
Always delicious vegan food served here

May Kaidee Keren!

During my visit to Bangkok this time, I not only stumbled upon this amazing vegan restaurant but also made some incredible new friends from May Kaidee.

The food options here are so diverse, and I'm sure you'll find everything they serve here delicious. And when it comes to prices, for a restaurant of their caliber, it's pretty budget-friendly.

The new friends I mentioned earlier are the friendly and fun staff of this restaurant. I've gotten to know some of them quite well, to the point where it feels more like visiting a friend's house than a restaurant.

I must admit, I've been hitting up this place almost every other day during my two-month stay in Bangkok. It's definitely secured a spot on my list of favorite vegan restaurants in Bangkok.

Wishing continued success and good health to everyone at May Kaidee... You guys are awesome!

Great food, but looong waiting time

Love the place, ate here twice and would gladly come back (and can also strongly suggest the cooking course), but I do NOT recommend coming here if you are in a hurry. And I strongly suggest avoiding re-ordering.
-------
Food:
Everything was great, but the How Mokk and the Khao Soy were our favourites.
-------
Waiting time:
First time we came here was in the evening around 7-7.30pm. The place was packed, so it took until 8pm until the food arrived. I then had the smart idea to make another order for a pancake. After 40 minutes I inquired ("they are doing it right now"), in the end we had to wait until 9.30pm...

The second time we came here before 6pm, and there were only two other people there. Food arrived by 6.30pm. And I did the same mistake, ordered another dish, waited until 7.40pm, upon inquiry they noticed they had forgotten about it (all I got was a "sorry"), and by 8pm I finally got it.

Personally, I'd prefer if they changed to a format with less seats and a waiting list, so people can decide for themselves if they are ok with waiting for xx minutes. While I appreciate that they would never send customers away, the long waiting frustrated and negatively affected my experience here.

Pros: Super tasty & cheap, large menu

Cons: Very long waiting time for orders, Besides the owner, most staff speak little English

Great taste. Not solty. Good service.

I love this restaurant. I ordered KAOSOI and Eggplant salad. My husband ordered Massaman carry and brown rice. We were so much full. I ask to make a salad not spicy, they could arranged it. I highly recommend eating here if you visit Kaosan street.

Pros: Taste, Not expensive, Kind staff

So many tasty things 😋

I had Panang Curry, and massaman curry, which were flavorful and packed with perfectly cooked veggies and tofu. For only 100bhat it was a good portion. My next dish was the MayKaidee Special Salad for 150bhat. It was enormous but not what I’d call a salad. The vegetables were battered and deep fried, slathered in a nice and flavorful sauce, topped with some fresh herbs and few fresh veggies, raw onion and peanuts. While it was tasty, it was certainly not the light accompanying dish I wanted for my curry haha. My mistake for not asking first!

The banana blossom salad is divine! The sauce was to die for

Had high expectations!

The food was ok, but nothing spectacular.

The portion size was small in my opinion - can be subjective tho.
The price are ok.

I took pad thai with tofu and my friend green curry - and this is where disappointment came - we could not find tofu almost at all😅 We asked if the dish includes tofu and the waiter said - yes... once we asked where is it - he just answered there is and left...

What was also disappointing was waiter's attitude. Once we arrived he did not even look at us and we waited until I grabbed menu by myself 😅 there was only 2 tables, so they were not busy...

Super Restaurant!

Pros: Sehr leckeres Essen, Günstig , Freundliches Personal

Pros: Nettes Personal

Cons: Veganes essen nicht gekennzeichnet , Ambiente

Very good

The food is good. Be sure to iterate what vegan is, mentioning no eggs etc. is more helpful than saying vegan.

Fair 3.5 out of 5

Had the fresh spring rolls
It’s not like Vietnamese ones with rice paper but more like a very thin crepe and served warm. Service friendly but hardly speaks English
I asked for no cilantro and confirmed twice with staff. Asked in English and tried my best in Thai
Food arrived with cilantro - which wasn’t a pleasure eating a full roll filled with it haha
Thankfully it was just a herb I can’t stand instead of someone having health issues with something
They made me new ones thankfully
Still lacking flavour. Sauce with peanut looks good but very bland. Needs some serious seasoning. Thai food is supposed to be packed with flavours

Not sure if I will be back. Wanna give them another try
But then the great reviews are all about these rolls as well so if I don’t like the best rated of the menu- why?

Pros: Location, Friendly service

Cons: Language barrier , Flavourless
