Love it - Edit
Like other Max branches, this one offers tasty plant-based chicken and beef burgers. It's such an enjoyable experience to walk into a casual fast food chain and have a variety of vegan options to chose from. Just wish they also had vegan cheese.

Good fast food - Edit
Several vegan menus. Average prices for fast food. Good for when you want to eat out without spending too much. They charge like 100 krone for drink refills. Fries come unsalted but you can grab salt packets next to the ketchup dispenser.

An honest 4/5 review - Edit
Max burger is a chain fast food restaurant across Scandinavia. The Oslo branch is modern with self-serve tills. They have a number of vegan burgers and vegan nuggets. The quality does seem to have dipped over the years (and the vegan shake is no longer available). But it's a good place for a quick, cheap bite.

Typical junk food - Edit
Max Burger at Karl Johan’s gate offers two distinct vegan options: a buffalo-style chicken burger and a standard meat-style patty. Both are decent, fairly priced, and deliver the typical junk food experience you'd expect. However, after many visits—both on regular days and late nights after partying—I've noticed several recurring issues.
Read moreOne major downside is that orders frequently come out wrong, and, frustratingly, this includes receiving non-vegan items despite ordering vegan. Additionally, ordering vegan food can significantly delay your meal. On weekends, it's not uncommon to wait 20 to 30 minutes, or even up to 45 minutes during peak hours, as they don't seem to have vegan items readily available. The handling of dietary restrictions feels lax, which is concerning.
The restaurant itself is fairly standard with plenty of seating both on the ground floor and in the basement. While it offers a lot of space, the overall cleanliness leaves much to be desired, with the atmosphere being what you'd expect from a fast food joint. The toilets are particularly bad—quite filthy, frankly.
That said, if you're craving affordable junk food that's a slight step up from the usual options, Max Burger could still be worth a visit. Just be prepared for potential mishaps if you're ordering vegan.
Pros: Fair priced
Cons: Long wait , Don’t seem to take dietary restrictions seriously

Good for being fast food - Edit
Max has four vegan options on their Green Menu, and six different vegan milkshakes. The food is decent, and their milkshakes are really good.

When you’re in the mood for fast food it’s a winner - Edit
This is no gourmet burger joint (go to Dirty Vegan!) but when you want quick, easy, cheap(ish) this is what you’re looking for. I had the basic BBQ Plant Beef burger with fries and I liked it. As has been stated by other reviews the burgers are in the same category as McDonalds / Burger King style burgers so 4 stars in based on that category but would be lower if I was comparing to quality high end vegan dining. Would like to try one of the plant based shakes another time. I liked the self-order menu which has an English option. Great to see a few different vegan options.

Surprisingly good for fast food - Edit
I don't tend to like fast food, but this was actually really good! I will definitely eat here again. It felt junky enough to satisfy what you want from a fast food burger, but not so junky that you don't feel good after. They have one vegan burger, and two that can be made vegan. I recomend to go for the Crispy Mexican and ask to get it vegan.

In norway, mattilsynet, who ensure food safety, regularly check all restaurants, and give scores, the result in either a smileyface 🙂, a "not impressed" face 😐, or in the worst case a sad face ☹️ that the has to be displayed. This place has a "not impressed" face 😐 due to kitchens routines and management or something.
But the main drawback are the convenient order screens that don't require you to speak to a human being. This is just sad and a terrible thing for any restaurant to implement, even if it's fast food joint. It's a cold design choice that is a step toward a more isolated human experience. Luckily, you can ignore these, and actually interact with a person that will take your order.
Pros: Several vegan options, Not overly junky, Affordable
Cons: Unpersonal ordering screens create a cold society, Mattilsynet gave it a "not impressed" face😐
