Great shop for harder to find ingredients - Edit

I love this shop for staples such as nut milks, various tofu items and vegan deli items. Although it isn't totally vegan like the Purple Carrot on Smithdown Road, it also has lots of great value bulk buy items such as nuts, spices, grains and rice. They also stock raw chocolate and vego bars - so no more :-)

Pros: Usual fruit and veg including plantains, turmeric , Large range of vegan treat foods

Cons: Not completely vegan but only small quantities of , I wish it was bigger!!!

Great shop! - Edit

This shop has a delightful selection of vegan items from cheese to desserts. We bought a wide range of chocolates (Booja Booja) and fudge and greatly impressed our non-vegan friends who live in Liverpool.

Pros: Wide selection of vegan items, Centrally located

Do not miss! - Edit

Matta's is such a wonderful shop. We always stock up on our spices, herbs, tofu, nuts, vegan chocolate, and beans (and much more!) each month. Very friendly and helpful staff and a wide range of products to suit both vegetarians and vegans.

Wide choice of vegan-friendly products - Edit

Popped in for a quick nosey and spent half an hour looking round. Lots of vegan-friendly products and all very well priced.

Left with a bag full and will return. A great place to source international ingredients that are tricky to get elsewhere.

loved it!!! - Edit

What a smell in there!!!! I love it!
A lot of vegan offers for low prices. I wished we would have a shop like that here in Aachen!

Pros: a lot of vegan offers, very fresh food, friendly staff

Matta's, Liverpool - Edit

Matta's bills itself as an international food shop and not as a health food shop. Some of their things on offer will almost certainly interest a large number of vegetarians of all persuasions (including vegan veggies).

However some of the things that they are offer are quite obviously not vegetarian without having to read label the to see the ingredients (eg dead fish in the freezer compartment). I personally find this somewhat off putting and I have one friend who refuses to go there on account of this. Having said that though they do have some brilliant stuff in Matta's and some veg*n friendly things that I'm not aware in any of the health food shops in Liverpool. I find myself going there a bit more regularly. Its a real shame about some of the things that they sell so far that reason I am unable to rate it higher than this.

Many vegan products - Edit

Matta's was a life saver while in Liverpool as it stocks plenty of vegan products including spreads, milks, faux meats... Matta's is not at all, however, a 100% veg shop. Helpful and friendly staff.
