Good amount of vegan options

Not closed as of april 2023. Bansko cuisine is known for its meat dishes. Finding a restaurant with more than one vegan option (usually french fries) is a rarity. This restaurant had a good amount of options - mostly salads. Green bean dish was very good, bean soup was good as well, although a bit too salty for my taste. Waiter was really kind.

Pros: Good amount of vegan options available

Cons: Only one raw veggie salad

Still open, tasty but not clearly vegan

The restaurant is still open. We came with high expectations based on all the positive reviews. The waitress at first didn't know what "vegan" means, because she pointed out dishes with butter and cheese to us after we asked her for vegan food. After clarifying, we ordered two vegetable dishes (vegetarian hot plate and grilled vegetables which was basically the same without chips and muuch cheaper) but emphasizing we didn't want butter etc. Both tasted really good.
However I'm sure none of their desserts are vegan (unlike mentioned in other reviews), but if we'd asked the waitress she would've probably said "yes, they are" 😄 on the menu nothing is labelled as vegan

Pros: Tasty food, Nice atmosphaire

Cons: Not clearly labelled vegan

Followed directions on two different phones both leading to the same place which was deserted without any signage. No answer when we called.

Cons: Closed

So good we went twice!

Worth booking in advance as we tried turning up on a Sunday evening and couldn’t be seated but so worth it! Had two amazing meals, lots of variety of plant based dishes and a really cosy traditional feel. Do double check ingredients though as we were offered a dessert which the server said was vegan which clearly wasn’t.

Pros: Lots of variety of veggie dishes , Really reasonably priced

Cons: Vegan options could be clearer

The best meal we've had this week

We had an amazing time. The place has a great atmosphere. We sat by the fireplace. The room is all built of wood and stone and was very authentic. We've been here for a week and the food was the best we've tried so far. The vegan meals are excellent and the vegan deserts are outstanding. You must order the bean soup and pumpkin based dessert.

Pros: Quite a few vegan options., The waiter was vegan friendly., Very interesting local flavours

Cons: None

Excelente experiencia

It was nearly 2 years ago, maybe they changed the recipe? They ensured us our dishes weren’t prepared with milk/butter or eggs.

Traditional Cuisine

This friendly restaurant offers traditional Bulgarian food. When we explained we were vegan using Google translate they happily showed us what we could eat. We had a lovely sizzling mixed vegetable and fried potato platter. They gave us a studel style apple dessert.
We would have given it 4 stars but they have caged birds and animal skins on the wall.

Pros: Friendly staff , Reasonably priced

Great options!

Definitely try the bean and chickpea balls, and the green beans dish! The salads and grilled breads are also amazing.

For dessert there is an amazing vegan pumpkin pudding, which they usually surprise you with, but you can still ask for it :)

Great place for traditional Bulgarian food.

This is a very traditional Bulgarian style place in Bansko. Even though it's not at all vegetarian/vegan it has plenty of dishes that are. We told the waiter (an older gentleman the night we were there) our eating requirements (vegan food) and he was more than happy to go through the menu with us and offer advice. The food was delicious when it came and the decorations and ambience were lovely. This is a great place to experience traditional Bulgarian food/atmosphere.

Pros: Good selection of vegetarian/vegan food, Friendly staff, English menu

Cons: Most dishes are meat.
