Fabulous vegan selection - Edit
What a lovely restaurant. Full vegan menu. Amazing food. Very reasonably priced. An absolute must - you won’t be disappointed. We had the bruschetta and the zucchini flowers to start and I had the pistachio pesto spaghetti for main. I was in food heaven!!! My husband had a main course too. Plus a bottle of wine, bottle of water and a large beer. The bill came to about €70.

Matre had a great selection of vegan options to choose from. Delicious traditional Pugliese dishes. The owner was so friendly and welcoming and our server Eduardo went above and beyond. Great service and phenomenal vegan dishes. Highly recommend if you're in Gallipoli.

This place is super vegan friendly!they have a menu which changes frequently (so the pic I'm uploading might not be updated) with many options from appetizers to desserts. Staff is very knowledgeable and welcoming and the food is delicious.

Apprezzo la presenza di un ragù di seitan, ma occorre maggiore attenzione al dettaglio - Edit
Sono contenta di avere trovato delle opzioni vegane all’interno del menu, la mia esperienza in questo ristorante è stata relativamente discreta anche se sono mancate alcune accortezze ovvero un bicchiere non era stato lavato bene ed era presente del rossetto. Premetto che i proprietari sembravano molto gentili ed in sala eravamo solo due coppie, non mi sembrava il caso di fargli fare brutta figura davanti all’altra coppia e quindi abbiamo utilizzato un solo bicchiere in due per evitare disturbo, ma è inaccettabile che si metta un bicchiere sporco su una tavola pulita. Per quanto riguarda i pasti ho ordinato un antipasto con fiori di zucca in pastella e un primo di orecchiette con ragù di seitan, che devo dire mi sono piaciuti anche se ho trovato il seitan un po’ sapido. Per quanto riguarda l’ambiente, invece, era abbastanza buio all’interno, illuminato dalla luce naturale solo dall’ingresso principale e da quella esterna. Un’altra nota negativa è stata la pressione percepita nel terminare il pasto poiché come orario di chiusura erano segnate le 14:30 e l’orario si avvicinava, (questa cosa l’avevo letta anche in un’altra recensione passata, quindi a distanza di tempo non sembra cambiato molto), sicuramente accorgimenti da rivedere.

Best vegan option in Gallipoli - Edit
Very cute and authentic experience. They have a seperate vegan menu with seasonal dishes. I tried a few of them and they are all very delicious, sometimes there is vegan desserts as well. I personally recommend Fior di Zucca as a starter and Pasta al ragu as a main! Also they have a very cute courtyard with a lot of plants, felt very cozy there!

Pranzo squisito al ristorante MATRE di Gallipoli, mi è venuto in mente solo tardi di fare le foto, quindi ne giro solo una del tortino di patate già iniziato, ma ragazzi la signora che cucina ha una mano delicatissima e c’è una pagina intera di menù vegano, torneremo certamente prestissimo a provare tutti quello che non siamo riusciti a mangiare oggi. Da menzionare la gentilezza, la professionalità e la pazienza nel venire incontro alle diverse esigenze.

Read moreThis restaurant is really perfect to end the evening. The staff is so lovely and super informative. It was even possible to veganize vegetarian dishes. But there is also an extremely large varied vegan selection.
We can especially recommend the pasta with porcini mushrooms. The orange tofu was also very delicious. We will be back soon.

The best vegan food I’ve had in southern Italy - they had a full vegan menu 💘 The staff were lovely too - thanks for a great evening! I had the vegan quinoa ball and a friend had one of the salads but they had so many other delicious looking options! Even vegan cake (which was sold out when I went to order it - gotta be quick :))

My family and I had such a wonderful experience at the restaurant. They had a whole vegan menu as well as vegan friendly options on the main menu. The vegan menu is not well advertised so you have to ask for it but they are happy to accommodate!

My favourites were the orange tofu and the bolognese.
The service was also excellent.
Such a shame about the low star rating, I would defo recommend!

Authentic Italian with specific vegan menu - Edit
When we told the waiter we’re vegan he proceeded to turn over the menu board and there was a full vegan menu for us! Approximately 8-10 dishes all vegan. We had the Pea Protein Ragu and the Turnip Tortino Pie, with fried zucchini flowers on the side! It was all very tasty. The staff didn’t speak any English so would recommend going with phrases to let them know you’re vegan, and the menu was only in Italian so we weren’t 100% what we were ordering but it was all tasty.

Nice pasta with seitan - Edit
Nice restaurant with outdoor seating in the garden. They have only two vegetarian meals (salad and local traditional pasta with seitan and tomatoes) and it can be vegan if you ask for no cheese (senza formaggio) but it was so delicious that it is worth a visit. Friendly staff, good wine.
